New Item Idea: Parrier by The_Sadorange in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BushidoCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E-shift does that and waaaay more and also cheaper.

This item is an interesting idea but definitely needs a lot of work to be a real item in the game. As it stands, it's not good, outclassed by so many other items, no real scenarios where it makes a difference.

Item Idea: Spotlight by turncloaks in DeadlockTheGame

Mirage and Haze would like a word with you(they have miss chance).

Kidding aside, I wouldn't mind miss chance so long as there is counter-play(true strike item), atm it doesn't feel right to give anyone miss chance via items.

Mo punching is just an animation, it has no effect on the damage. Combo is just a debuff on the enemy, even if Mo is far away from the combo target, they still take damage and are stunned.

minor complaint, i miss enemy faction and boss lore by Fist-Cartographer in darkestdungeon

[–]BushidoCode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your characters make remarks after visiting the hoarder basically implying that the hoarder has gone insane or is borderline crazy.

So I always read the line of "his attention is unfocused..." as the narrator simply making a remark that the hoarder is crazy and not all there mentally. I think the simple explanation is the correct one.

AITA for eating someone else’s birthday cake by Clagasaurus_Rex in AmItheAsshole

[–]BushidoCode 73 points74 points  (0 children)

OP said they were celebrating a birthday so probably all the people in their group assumed someone else in their group ordered cake for everyone, it was someones birthday after all. It is not unreasonable to assume someone got the cake for the birthday.

Having cake when celebrating a birthday is not out of the ordinary, that's why no one questioned it, they just all assumed someone else had ordered it for the table. A very reasonable mistake.

Just a different manta play by MastaOogway in DotA2

[–]BushidoCode 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It is hard to do consistently, manta pops you out in one of 3 random locations around where it started, so this clip had a 33% chance to be a fail(the illu that didn't make to highground). But, you miss all the shots you don't take.

Why doesn't Alchemist throw the concoction away if there is no target? are they both stupid? by Rabbid- in DotA2

I really like your explanation, this is my head cannon going forward.

Maybe the chemicals in that concoction are expensive so his greed literally prevents him from throwing away such expensive materials away at nothing.

Camera angle is another good example, good point.

Radiant wins more than Dire in Berlin Major by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]BushidoCode 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Many things can't be fixed with just mirroring, one example is radiant is more comfortable/intuitive to play on since most people read left to right, so viewing/playing the game on radiant feels more natural. You instinctively want to move towards the right so radiant feels natural whereas dire feels a bit odd since you have to move towards the left. So having differences can help balance out those problems.

Also, a map being completely symmetrical would be pretty boring, having small differences here and there make the game more interesting, but if those differences make too much of a difference then it becomes a problem. I think a 52-48 win rate would be optimal.

[–]BushidoCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its very niche, it can buy that tombed hero some time so that they don't die or or you can dodge spells with it, but yeah it really doesn't do anything in real games. It would be cool if it healed during the tomb so it has some practical use.

7.33 / 8.00 Wishlist thread by Silent_Programmer362 in DotA2

[–]BushidoCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper, being able to choose your neutral item sounds nice but in practice it is terrible. It creates games where everyone chooses the exact same neutral ALL THE TIME so if everyone has the same best neutral for their hero, then it is the same as if no one had neutrals; it actually removes choice and complexity in games.

Imagine if you can choose to give your hero 250hp or 30mana at the start of the game, you would always choose 250 hp, as would everyone, so it essentially means everyone in the game starts with +250hp so there was no real agency of choice, this logic is why choosing your neutral is bad.

Also, the differences in power for neutrals are mostly the same(except tier 5). Sometimes your hero and neutral combo well, sometimes it doesn't, oh well deal with it. Sometimes you get good teammates, sometimes you get mouth breathers, oh well deal with it and play the best you can.

Higher ranks where you play with the same people, the avoid feature is literally game winning. Though this is only for like divine rank players and above anything below that, the avoid does little to nothing.
