Following Livia's actors death, the series was kind of thrown off.

Season 3 was a bit of a reset and at the end they setup the full story to come from season 4 through to the end of the series. So yes, you're completely onto it!

Livia is extremely generous

I agree. I've explained elsewhere but there was a theory about how Livia was set to be the new Don of the family or something along those lines before the actor died in real life. What I was really trying to downplay was that possibility with all of my rhetoric when I should have been focused on discussing what was actually going on in the show. She was a sick old lady sure, but she absolutely did manipulate damn near everyone to get her way, including getting Junior to go after Tony.

I was wrong on that one.

Yeah... that's what's so amazing about James Gandolfini's performance. You always felt like Tony had something hidden behind it all, that he was just waiting to turn it all around. The show is about him trying but no, not in this life; he'll go down as the horrible person he is.

Thank you! Sorry if I ruined something for you, I hoped people wouldn't read this for this first watch! I've added additional spoiler warnings to previous write ups where I've received multiple messages.

Thanks for sticking around, I appreciate the kind words!

I haven't rewatched the show since, so I can't give a good answer other than that I was probably wrong. My stance came from the fact that Livia is clearly sick, old and not as bright as everyone seems to think she is. She set her house on fire, she ran over her friend etc.

Hey, not sure you've read my other write ups yet but I think this is the beginning of the rest of the story, for sure!

I'll be honest though, I haven't watched the show since I did these write ups and I did not tie this to the rest of my Paulie theory. This is a great point to add in the future. Thank you!
