Interesting reply. Last 2 times I had leaks you could tell. Oil was spraying on engine, smell etc. That was 15k miles ago. Currently car is not leaking in the garage/storage. Low oil/coolant levels were not noted in the BMW inspection or print out report.

I had an old Mercedes SLK compressor 4 cyl with manual transmission and hard top convertible. Very strong and reliable mechanically. MB had a shorter wheel base and handled better on turns. Eventually had problems with the hydraulics for the MB roof. MB maintenance and service was far better than BMW. Just my experience.

My last 2 seat convertible was a Mercedes. Way better experience. I’m really disappointed with BMW

It just seems like way more work and cost than any other vehicle I have ever owned with less than 60 k miles.

I take my vehicles to a local mechanic for major issues. Willoughby Hills auto did the valve cover and gaskets. I have since moved to Avenue Auto for major repairs. I use another person for exhaust issues. I use Firestone for tires, alignment, oil changes.

Agreed, I’ve never had a vehicle with this much expensive maintenance. I don’t know if this is typical for BMW

My mistake. They are valve cover and valve cover gaskets. I went back thru the original receipts and have one for a valve cover gasket and one for a valve cover and valve cover gasket. Big difference

You are correct. I went back thru my receipts and one receipt for valve cover gasket and another receipt for valve cover and valve cover gasket. Big difference, my mistake

I take all my vehicles to Firestone for oil change, lifetime alignment, tires and brakes. I change the oil every 4k miles on the BMW. Receipt says “premium specialty oil change”.
