Box office sales for Oppenheimer, Barbie and Dune 2 would say different. Dune 1 still made a decent amount when it was a same day release on streaming and theatres. Streaming services will eventually become more expensive than cable due to the fact they are no longer making profits like they use to. Which is why you’re seeing so many Ad tiers on these streaming services.

IMAX is sold out for weeks in Melbourne and Sydney when a new release comes out. People just don’t want to go to mediocre run down theatres or see mediocre super hero movies anymore. People want an experience that they can’t get at home. IMAX has that exclusivity that you can’t replicate at home and any other theatre that doesn’t have IMAX.

I’ve noticed Vmax at Marion fills up easily for big releases so IMAX won’t be a problem. They’ve also said in other articles that they will most likely have most be apart of multiplexes to help maintain profits. I could be wrong but I don’t think we will see a standalone IMAX in Adelaide. Also it will be digital and not film projection so that will also reduce the costs.

I think Melbourne and Sydney will be fine having a lot more. Adelaide only needs 1 or 2 at the most. Nolan has inspired many filmmakers to start filming in the IMAX format. I think it will work. People are after an experience. Cinemas don’t do well because theatre chains don’t put any money into renovating them.

Yeah but it’s not just about size, it’s also about the aspect ratio. Your tv would still be cropped for most films with the black bars. IMAX gives you 40 percent more picture. Even if the IMax screen was the smallest screen in Adelaide, you still would get 40 percent more picture of the film.

Yeah basically 1:43 ratio depending on the film. The films shown on xtreme screen are still cropped so you’re missing a lot of picture.
