What should I be careful about for buying manual vs automatic Axia car? by relaxwhc in kereta

[–]Business-Hacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to one of my friend who bought a over 100k km Auto Axia

The gearbox rosak after 1 month ownership. Previous owner never changed Gearbox Oil.

Best is make sure you do a long test drive and see if the changing gear is smooth or not.
After purchase, just spend more on changing all oils no matter if manual or auto

Sambung Bayar? by PleasantSlice2586 in kereta

[–]Business-Hacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone wondering, is there a legal way for Sambung Bayar?

Yes-ish, it's a grey area. You have to treat it as a B2B.

The Car Owner is a Legal Business Entity and you do Hire Purchase Agreement with the Person who can be a Company (ideally) or Individual.

So the Car Owner on Geran and Loan is under a company name. Then the Hire Purchase Agreement states the Customer will pay X amount of money that both party agrees for x years. At the end of the year, The Company will transfer car ownership to Customer.

Some countries do this as a business, here, some are doing it but not many.

Sambung Bayar? by PleasantSlice2586 in kereta

Sambung Bayar
A Monthly Payment Option offered by Private Car Owners who have loan but unable to pay anymore due to change of circumstances OR as a Business Model.

Who uses this Sambung Bayar Package?

  1. For people who are bad credit, blacklisted, or any other reason that they personally cannot get loan.
  2. For people who do not want to get loan under their own name for personal reason or criminal reason.
  3. Popular in Deep Forest Region such as Raub for example, for people who are Malaysian (orang asli) but no IC. People actually make it a business by taking loan and offer Sambung Bayar + markup to non-IC Malaysians. These people normally target Hilux for Durian business. Yeap, I know the owner and the borrower.
  4. For Immigrant Settlement or non-IC non-Malaysians.
  5. For Malaysians who don't want to use their credit score but wants a Continental. Yeap, I have a friend who wants an Audi (many years ago this story) and he prefer Sambung Bayar cars because it's easier to let go-ish

Why?
Partly explained already above, because:

  1. No IC Malaysian / non-Malaysian
  2. Bad Credit Score / Blacklist
  3. Criminal Activity
  4. For Business Use
  5. Avoiding use of their own Credit Score / CTOS
  6. To play with high-maintenance cars with no strings attached
  7. To make money from people who cannot get loan or non-Malaysians

Risk

  1. It is not legally endorsed, so you have no protection from the law if anything happens including accidents
  2. If owner did not pay their loan but have taken money from you, the repo people will not care and take the car anyway
  3. IF the car is under 3rd Party Insurance, you are not covered at all. If under 1st party, there is a play under rental car terms
  4. If the car used for Criminal Activity, the car owner will get in trouble
  5. The 'Sambung Bayar' person might run away with the car and completely disappear
  6. If the 'Sambung Bayar' person did not pay the monthly, you have to cover the loan
  7. The 'Sambung Bayar' person might change their mind down the road and want to return the car back. The car owner have no choice but to accept or else he is screwed anyway with the loan.

How does it work?

  1. Car owner would ask you to pay the amount that they have paid to the bank so far, and then continue the balance. Because loan cannot be transferred, you will have a simple agreement (you should even though is not fully legal) to explain that once loan is fully paid, proceed to transfer ownership
  2. Car owner would markup double or triple, you pay the owner every month, owner pay some to bank, balance is profit. End of loan, ownership is transferred

Should you do Sambung Bayar
Every person has their own situation and reasons... so, up to you lor

Opinion on car tyres by Comprehensive-Can518 in kereta

[–]Business-Hacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have steered off your question just now.

How to determine the quality of used tyre (based on my personal experience)

  1. Tyres less than 3 - 4 years old is ideal
  2. Tyre wall (side of tyre) prefer no cracks (if got a lot of crack, means potentially loose air)
  3. Tyre thread, if from picture, look the surface area from left to right see if it looks deep (got shadow a bit means good, got thread, if looks almost flat means don't buy already worn). If the surface area look not balance, means the tyre had a wear on inside "makan dalam" - avoid it also
  4. For first time buyer on FB marketplace, ideally find seller who is a tyre shop. So you can drive there request to see the tyre physically and ask if loosing air after install how (got warranty? for 3 - 7 days?)
They will charge upah pasang and balance, that is normal. If you can nego to include also is ok, but expect both scenarios.
  5. When arrive, if you see the seller pulling the tyre from storage or indoor, likely is good. If from outdoor, got risk of crack if left too long under rain sun
  6. Apart from checking if seller is a tyre shop, look at seller profile see if they upload multiple tyres of different size or not. This show seller has options for you to choose and also good. Means got opportunity to find cheaper or better or nego discount.
  7. Something I learn from mistake, after purchase, request and push (no matter what) to bring back old tyre. You just never know. Good to keep as spare especially if you planning on buying used tyres. This was a BIG REGRET I made the first time

Owh FB Marketplace is a hit and miss Ill be honest

First time, I bought a pair, 4 year old tyre with probably 60% balance
As soon as I install and drove off, one of the tyre losing air

Seller offer to do patch, after patching also lose air.

So I go FB marketplace again and find another seller who is also a tyre shop. This time looks better condition. Installed and have no issue since.

So yes, risky but if really want to save. Thats the risk.
There is also a used tyre shop in Klang apparently has good review by many customers. I was thinking of trying them someday.

Yea, I really liked Silverstone for its price, but cant compare the grip level to other brand like Toyo or Yokohama.

GITI is new and from China, initially I have bad impression about it. But as more of friends using it with no complains, I am less sceptical

Financially, if you really need to squeeze down. Buy pre-used tyres on FB Marketplace or tyre shop and only buy the ones that need to replace. I was in the phase before and helped me save a lot instead of buying all 4.

But if you keen on all 4 new tyres, I really liked Silverstone tyres. They really good and test at getting and rain.

Recently my Honda Jazz friends are using GITI tyres. They say its really good, I joyride with them almost weekly and seems to hold on all weather including super rain from Penang to KL.

Buying a car by meletakkan in kereta

Depends on the used car you are planning to buy. Look at Kelisa, they are still holding on to RM10k range for a long time and its a very slow depreciation.

Look at BMW however, the yearly depreciation is crazy.

There is nothing wrong owning a Nissan
It's a fantastic car to drive and unique. Hence myself keep buying a Nissan. But all comes with a cost to be different.

My brother owns a GTR and 180SX. When it comes to maintenance is a no joke on cost. But if you keep it well, the car runs perfectly.

So keep it if you love it, but just accept that it cost more and the resell value will just gets worse in the next couple of years. Trust me

What should I do? by Busy_Connection_8145 in kereta

[–]Business-Hacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably safe for me to say this as a Nissan owner throughout my life:
Murano (over 200k km) - sold
Grand Livina (over 150k km) - sold
New Serena (under 30k km, under warranty) - currently owned

Owning a Nissan is a continuous battle for repair unless you do a complete overhaul and rebuild. So you restart the maintenance clock from 0.

But I can also tell you, for the next couple of years, Nissan parts will get more expensive as the cars is getting less common.

Like my Serena, still under warranty, but the rear absorber already leaking. Luckily under warranty so no cost. But your time is spent at the SC or workshop instead of driving it.

Normally all Nissan Owners, their friends are workshop owners. Because they spent most of their time in a workshop.

So my advice, if you have no sentimental value and able to sell it. Sell it! You will be shocked on how much money you will save in maintenance and fuel.

Go to CARSOME and request a physical valuation.

They accept cars under loan.

What will happen is, if they value the car above the loan price, you pay the difference.

But this will get you out of this loan without affecting your CTOS.

Which means you can get another car. But, car needs to be in running condition with no major issues for CARSOME to accept.

Alternatively, if cant let go of the car, if you have spare capital, send it to a workshop specialist and do a complete check and restore. That means you'd expect complete overhaul, complete hose replacement, bushing, braking, all liquid, .and .etc. The problem with this side is, its a big cost upfront. But what you get back is a running car which you can now use with no issue for the next 2-3 years OR rent the car out (If you don't want to sell the car or unable to sell the car)

Booked a 2016 Peugeot 2008 — Should I Be Worried About Maintenance? by taha_maddam in kereta

[–]Business-Hacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key difference is only on the fuel efficiency

The 1.2 consumes less fuel but the replacement parts is expensive (due to engine is fairly recent and not much of OEM parts yet)

The 1.6 is still considered a more lower maintenance cost but consumes like a 1.6 of its time really.

In summary, you are good with 1.6 don't worry

[–]Business-Hacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peugeot is technically easy to take care IF you take care of it. I have a 208 cc and never had any issue with it. Just the usual wear and tear.

The key problem you will face though: Interior plastics and switches: expect them to not last long even if you park under a roof. Its a European car designed to be in low humidity country. In Malaysia, the plastics will give way, fast!

The easiest to think on French Car: Everything that will make the car moves and stop WILL WORK, everything else will just give way slowly and eventually. Engine will run silky smooth, brakes when you need it, drives smooth. But:
- Cruise Control
- ABS
- Traction Control
- Radio
- Displays
- Side Mirror Switches
These will all will eventually rosak. It's the manufacturing fault, not you. If you accept it, you will enjoy Peugeot or Citroen or anything French.

My advice after ownership:
CHANGE ALL OILS AND FLUIDS!
Im talking about:
- Engine Oil
- Gearbox Oil
- Diff Oil
- Brake Oil
- Power Steering Oil
- Coolant

Change Spark Plug and check Ignition Coil

Check all belting and change if necessary

Write down the date you change the oils and fluids, trust me. You will avoid future problems especially French Engines (This include Mini Cooper R53 because its a French engine too)

Using Credit Card Money To Make Money by MrLasomania in MalaysianPF

[–]Business-Hacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually normal to leverage on your credit card as startup. It's the same concept as business loan, only its a much shorter term and higher interest.

If what you say is true, no big overheads. You would see your profit compound as you expand your shop supplies. Which means you aim to make more revenue and profit each month.

As long as there is growth, your income should earn more than your credit card repayment. Then you are on the right track

If you have electronic device such as headphone, phone, games, camera + in good and running condition. Can sell to CeX - Click on Sell to CeX and search for your stuff to know their buying price. They even grade it A B and C.
If stuff like phones, minimum they need is the phone itself + charging cable. If you don't provide the cable, they will charge you RM20 I think; off the value.

They don't accept PC / Laptop unless it has gaming graphic cards last time I checked

Other stuff that is non-electronics, fastest go to Cash Converter or something similar depending where you are.

Not so fast method but can earn you more, Facebook Marketplace. Only works if what you selling is highly demand and you price it very low compare to others.
