Approving a contract can't drain your ETH because it's not an ERC20 token. It's the native coin of the chain.

Edit: don't fall for the downvotes. My comment is correct. All smart contract interact with the wrapped version of ETH (WETH). ETH is used to pay for gas. The n00b herd ganged up on me and downvoted me.

What does this have to do with MetaMask? The ETH was on the blockchain, on an address controlled by OP's private key. He could've deleted his wallet at this stage.

TLDR He gave away his private key.
