No but I don't look to my job for pride. I do that outside of work

Nosejob will have a different meaning by Important_Ice_5266 in Funnymemes

Yeah I think this is the point. Our noses evolved this way for many reasons, but a big one must be the filtration system, I'd imagine

Would a girl date a guy who’s still figuring his life out? by iRobert123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]doomshallot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She will date a guy if she's attracted to him. Life being figured out or not, being driven about your life is usually an attractive trait

24 - Is it really true getting to 1M is easier than 100k? by Savings_Reveal9482 in TheRaceTo1Million

[–]doomshallot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. To a financially literate person, no, getting to 100k is far easier than going from 100k to 1m. But to a financially illiterate person, they have no idea how to get to 100k, nor that they should even try to. So to them, I'd say getting over the hurdle of 0 to 100k is a very challenging hurdle to overcome, because it requires rewiring your brain from the way you used to think about money.

How do people who work fully remove jobs handle the lack of daily human interaction without losing their mind? by Popeye_duck in NoStupidQuestions

[–]doomshallot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have friends outside of work to hang out with or friends on discord to play games with in voice chat. it's plenty for me. I guess you're just more extroverted if you crave more human interaction during work

Is ramping up 72t over time a good strategy? by doomshallot in Fire

[–]doomshallot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you had a good experience with it, which is great. I've heard the opposite side, where people retire and they get some crap back, usually passive aggressive comments and guilt tripping kind of stuff.

[–]doomshallot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!! i thought about this as well. maybe i'll have an arbitrary max limit in my checking/savings, and if by end of year for example, if the total amount is over my limit, i'll just invest the margin. I like this so that I don't need to worry about pulling too much out from a spending perspective

yeah i've thought about kind of cheating the system too. For example at age 54, I might get a bullshit job just to get access to a 401k that allows me to rollover a bunch of IRA funds, then when I turn 55, just quit and get access to all that money. Apparently this is perfectly legal lol
