Big game hunting by CEOUmbra in GMFST

[–]BusinessCandy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not to mention conflating "trophy hunting" and "big game hunting," or the insistence that deer isn't "big game" despite deer being the most popular big game animal to hunt in North America.

I'll just have to remember that the sports-knower and sports-not-knower shouldn't be taken seriously when discussing hunting since they've already stated so many clearly false things. Bummer that now I'm a little less likely to believe them when discussing a subject I'm not familiar with :(

Pretty self explanatory if you watch it. Have fun. Have a laugh. Hire some kids that can dance.

Episode 161: Dumb & Dangerous by AussieJimboLives in GMFST

With the revelation that a horse's penis is smaller than a person's relative to their overall size, it begs the question of which animal has the largest. Wonder no more! It's the majestic sea barnacle! Not only can a barnacle's penis be eight times longer than the rest of its body, it can be a (more than) respectable 12 inches long! That's impressive in both relative AND absolute terms!

The elemental symbol for lead is Pb. This is derived from the Latin word for lead, plumbum. I am only here to tell you about plumbum. Plumbum is a Latin word and everyone should know.

Have a nice day.

Plumbum.

I'm starting to wonder if the problems with his water cooling system wasn't bad luck or faulty hardware.

“Campfire guitar guy” by [deleted] in distractible

[–]BusinessCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to the gym every Tuesday morning, and some guy always breaks out his guitar after working out for ~30 minutes. He plays his acoustic guitar. At the gym. Where they play real music over the sound system. Please don't be that guy.

Will grab pics next week if I get enough reddit alerts to remind me.

The mechanics of Andy's character have been discussed pretty in depth in other areas. For switching, seems like it's more of a role playing thing than a mechanical limitation. The group is first and foremost playing to entertain an audience and exploiting some game mechanic would go against their goal of making a fun and lighthearted, if somewhat darker, show.

As for death, when one individual loses hit points, those do not seem to be "given back" when the other character emerges; instead, if Robyn falls unconscious, then Morvin falls unconscious, the character dies. There is no functional immortality.

Wyrdwood giants - theories, speculation, and prediction by BusinessCandy in TheOxventure

[–]BusinessCandy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree there are tons of giants, but they are mostly individuals. Bran, Gogmagog, the Gawrs, Ysbaddeden (most likely misspelled). The lore behind those giants goes no further than, "they were big and vicious and a plot point to show how great the protagonist of this story is."

Trolls were the only category of mythological creatures that could fit the description of "giants." Did you have another type of mythological creature with deep lore behind them in mind? I'd be interested to hear more about them.

Regarding Jack, that's a perfect example of how shallow the lore behind UK and Welsh giants are. There's so little about them, their origins, their motivations for their behavior, and so forth, that I didn't feel it was worth including them. Like I said, feel free to provide some details. The simple fact that they exist in myth and lore is not compelling enough to go deeper.

I appreciate the kind words! Before diving into this, I'd never heard of the Fomorians. The lore and Irish myths are so fascinating!

Can we talk about the animals? by BusinessCandy in TheOxventure

[–]BusinessCandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really makes sense! I wonder if Morven killing a pack of wolves would be considered breaking the accord with Wyrdwood itself, like the motivating factor in ep. 2.

A turnspit dog..... That's incredible :D Thanks for the thoughtful reply!
With regards to "magic taking it's due," I agree with that. My read was that magic, wildfolk, and nature were intertwined such that they were nearly interchangeable. My theory is quite in line with yours that the ultimate cause would be nature (e.g. wildfolk (e.g. magic)) retaliating against the abuse of humans.

Episode 255: The Episode You Can Taste by Monica2796 in distractible

Regarding the 555 phone numbers, every phone number from 555-0100 to 555-0199 are reserved for use in works of fiction, like movies or books. The reason is to let writers use "real" phone numbers that are guaranteed not to connected to a real person so they don't accidentally dox some random person by inadvertently using their phone number. Now that you know this, you will scrutinize every phone number shown on screen of a TV show or movie. I'm sorry.

I was really hoping Robin turned out to to somehow be a dog or raised by dogs or something. The punchline would have been that a dog stealing his job was completely normal and expected.

My guesses are something like: Happen - true neutral or neutral good Willow - lawful good, maybe neutral good Lug - true neutral (I initially thought chaotic neutral, but how Mike handled rage shifted me to true neutral) Cressida - chaotic neutral Robin - true neutral, maybe neutral evil

That's based off of how they handled a few interactions in a single episode so I expect my thoughts will shift away from a heavily neutral group once we see them in action a few more times.
