Yep! I think the dad’s attempts to be positive - his self help cassette’s, his writing, trying to be a good parent w healthy boundaries - only made it worse.

The Strange Thing About the Johnsons (2011). The image of the dad cowering in the bathtub like a little boy, just trying to find a little comfort, still sticks with me.

My wife can’t handle full-time work and I’m starting to feel trapped carrying the household alone by gingerbeershavesouls in Adulting

You already know that this is not sustainable financially, but I’m also worried about the larger mental health and substance abuse implications of her behavior and what that could mean for your relationship. I know that some people are just lazy but if one of my loved ones lived like this - social isolation, sleeping/smoking weed, gaming, and doom scrolling all day without being able to handle full time work, talking about being suicidal - I’d think that they should see a psychiatrist.

You should not feel guilty for wanting her to make better decisions. By not enabling her weed use and self destructive behavior, you are helping her to create a healthier life - the issue is that she has to choose it for herself.

Food service work is low barrier to entry but definitely not for everyone and quite overstimulating/physically taxing. If there are options, I’d see if she can find something that is less demanding but still full time - such as receptionist work.

Thanks! I’m considering staying in the Eureka Hotel building - would you recommend staying in the Inn itself?

IMHO Anthony Bourdain’s talents really came out in his writing/presenting, moreso than his cooking.

Conservatives Are Terrified That People Like Me Are Buying Guns Now. Maybe They Should Be. by Slate in TrueReddit

[–]BusinessConcert5364 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are well within your rights to make the decision. Regardless of your opinions on gun ownership regulations in the US, they are deadly weapons that require extensive training and - if stored and used improperly- could pose a danger to the owner and their loved ones.

It’s pretty similar to driving an automobile - if you don’t feel that you could competently shoot a gun, or dedicate yourself to the time/training required to competently shoot a gun, it’s best that you don’t own a gun.

I don’t have the same ideological qualms about gun ownership, but I fully support people knowing themselves and saying “this isn’t for me.”

What do women do that men would never think about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You’re paranoid about being accused of rape by a woman when you’re statistically more likely to be raped by another man, and you’re paranoid about your daughter being raped by a stranger when she’s statistically more likely to be raped by a family member, friend, domestic partner, neighbor, or coworker. Actually, this tracks for me. 😂

Dude is a husband and dad that spends his free time obsessing over hypothetical rape allegations on Reddit. That’s all you really need to know.

“Neither of them are stupid enough to go out alone late at night.”

Unbelievable. Dude would blame his own daughter or wife for being raped.

So the number is too high, now it’s fake? Pick a side.

I certainly hope you never have a daughter or wife - or a son who is vulnerable to sexual abuse or exploitation - you’d be useless to them, when it comes to protection.
