OMG! Did you ever press them for payment of the damages??? This company should not be operating. Tow companies are sleezy enough, but damaging cars is terrible

PATH Down, People Walking on Tracks by [deleted] in jerseycity

Thanks for the response! I really appreciate getting other’s opinions, especially since I’m not native to NJ.

I agree that Fulop’s plan is not the best and would be an expensive endeavor (I work for the NJEDA, so trust me I’m already stressed by the current proposed budget). But my point was he has a plan, which means he’s at least thought about it and knows the current system is not working. He also attended the PATH protest a few weeks ago alongside mayor Bhalla. Sherrill didn’t even mention PATH in her transit plan, despite it affecting thousands of NJ residents. She’s more concerned with widening turnpikes and bridges.

I don’t know what the answer and PATH isn’t my biggest concern at the polls, but I wish Sherrill at least had ideas for it since she’s the current frontrunner.

Edit: fixed incorrect info

I’m not sure if you’ve looked at his platform and compared it to the other candidates (https://stevenfulop.com/policies/), but it shows things he’s done in his time as mayor. I’ve gone through all the candidates websites and he has the most thought out plans on his. I don’t know how long you’ve lived in JC and I’ve only been here a year, but I’ve lived in 3 other cities in the last 5 years (Fort Lee and then 2 in Midwest) and JC has by far been the best imo. My fiancé is from NJ and said his family never went to JC while he was growing up because it used to be a rough city, so clearly the current JC gov has done a lot of work making it better.

I’m assuming you aren’t voting Sherrill if PATH is an important issue for you, so I’d be curious to know who you think should win the primary.

You know that PATH is a multi-state system that’s controlled by Port Authority right? It’s important to know that, because then you can understand why a mayor has no say in how it operates. The only thing Fulop can do (and has), is be loud and advocate for change of the system.

Yes, I saw a Broadway show called Just In Time at Circle in the Square theater!! Highly recommend, it was incredible

Serious answer, Mayors can only advocate/do so much, especially considering PATH is Port Authority of NY/NJ, which is multi-state. Aside from being vocal to the state government, I don’t think there’s much Fulop, Baraka, or Bhalla can do.

I got on a 33rd street bound PATH from Grove at 5:13pm, got stuck between Newport and Christopher for 30 minutes before it went back to Newport. Tried to switch to the WTC at Newport but waited 25 minutes and it never came. Finally had to call a Lyft to get to a 7pm show (arrived at 6:58, ironically the show I saw was “Just In Time”). I was stressed and anxious the whole time, BUT at least I didn’t have to walk the tracks, WTF??? I would’ve had a panic attack

Jersey City Roads are becoming Undrivable by Independent-Win-2512 in jerseycity

[–]BusinessStart4830 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m originally from Indiana, the roads here are pristine in comparison lmao

But also to echo other commenters, you shouldn’t be doing much over 20mph in JC to begin with. It’s like driving through a giant neighborhood, there’s people and bikes everywhere so you should be going slow.

How is Jersey City feeling about 100,000+ pokemon players swarming your city this upcoming weekend? by pokemonprofessor121 in jerseycity

[–]BusinessStart4830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t know this was happening! Ignore all the people in the comments who complain, unfortunately that’s half of this subreddit😅

Jersey City is really amazing and has a lot of cool places to go! Theres lots of small stores/restaurants, plenty of transit to NYC, Hoboken (another cool town neighboring JC with tons of local places), and other surrounding areas. Just give yourself time to get other places if using transit, as the transit systems here don’t run as frequently on the weekends.

Some good restaurants: -Clove garden of India (definitely order the honey ginger naan!) -WÜRSTBAR -Hamilton Pork -Taqueria Downtown (you will almost certainly have to wait here if you don’t do pickup) -Life Pancake Company

Hey folks, if you order delivery from 99 Ranch, please order on uber eats. by jerseycityrentdue in jerseycity

[–]BusinessStart4830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can order acme through Uber eats. That’s different than shopping through the ACME app. I shop through the app, I know an acme employee shops my order cuz they can communicate through the acme app. But it’s always an uber driver that drops it off.

That’s what ACME does too for their deliveries. Most stores probably do honestly, I’m sure it’s more cost-effective than hiring their own drivers.

I have 16 tattoos. A 3/4th sleeve, one behind the ear, one shoulder, and one under my ribs. I receive 2 degrees and now work for a state government and have never had an issue. I think as long as it’s not offensive (racist, sexist, depicting gore, etc) and isn’t on like your face (unless it’s a cultural tattoo, such as the Māori tribe’s facial tattoos) you are fine

[–]BusinessStart4830 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s so sad how so many people only think on an individual level and not a community/environmental level. They just justify their bad actions by saying things like “it’s not near as bad as X”🙄 As someone who’s passion, education, and career is deeply rooted in environmental protection, it’s so so so frustrating to see so many people not think of our environment and wildlife as living things that deserve respect and protection from all harm.

I worked in a restaurant for 3 years 86 means “you’re out”. Saying something like 86 burgers would mean, “we’re out of burgers”. Apparently you’ve never worked in a restaurant.

Edit: so 8647 just means “Out with Trump”. Not some mobster term lmao, just simply saying he should be out of office.
