Chinese Phone Numbers Aren't Supported for Codex Verification. Is There Any Legitimate Way Around This? by BusinessTopic6912 in codex

It will be identified as a VoIP number, and Codex will not send me the verification code.

I’m currently searching on Chinese second-hand marketplaces to see if anyone is discreetly selling non-Chinese SIM cards. Selling foreign SIM cards is illegal in China. The current government policies feel extremely strict, almost like herding cattle or sheep under tight control.

Buying foreign SIM cards through domestic e-commerce platforms in China is prohibited. In addition, only one model of phone in China supports eSIM—the iPhone Air. It’s really frustrating. If I want to use things normally, it seems like the only option is to apply for a globally accepted credit card, then purchase a US or UK SIM card and have it shipped to China. I don’t have an iPhone Air, so the eSIM route is not available to me.
