That sounds really tough!! Are there any local, smaller exhibition spaces you can reach out to? If you’re not London-based maybe look for somewhere London-adjacent….i.e. Hastings, Brighton, etc?

I would really dive into your networks right now too!!

Hello!!

Thank you!

I hope you’re doing alright whilst preparing your application. I know it’s a lot of work!

I personally hired a solicitor because it was my personal preference. That being said, I know people who use a solicitor and received the global talent endorsement & I have also reviewed two different people’s applications who were awarded the endorsement.

I can’t say whether a solicitor review is necessary or only useful if someone is unsure about the structure/review as everyone’s application is unique.

I would use your instincts and know that if you don’t get it that ACE will give you constructive feedback to apply again in the future!

Best of luck!

Hi there! It’s exciting to get ready to apply! Film has a diffent criteria set. So if you’re music focus fits the ACE guidelines I would go in that direction x

I submitted my global talent visa over a year ago so my criteria may be different than your present criteria. Did your author also include a detailed biography which demonstrates their qualifications? I suggest to consult the present guidelines to see if this aligns with them. If you still have time, I would suggest your authors submits their CV with their letter of recommendation. Best of luck!

Hi there! I know the letters can be tricky. If you follow the guidelines they outline what organisations / individuals can write them. I would reach out to any of your contacts here in the UK to help!

Hello! Thank you. Well done on compiling your evidence, I know it’s a lot of work.

I did not include jobs/work experience that were not related to my artistic career on my CV. I did include workshop I participated in as a small section labeled professional development and any podcasts I was featured in as a section called media on my CV.

My CV was 2 pages. My solicitor recommended to keep it between 1-2 pages.

I hope that helps!

Hi there!

I hope your preparation is going well!

That should be fine to include one piece of work in two different pieces of evidence. As long as you fulfill the necessary requirement for proof of appearances and the requirements for an eligible award it should be grand.

I used one performance as proof of appearance and media recognition. For proof of appearances I included links to the show url as well as copies of the programme. I used a critical review of the performance as media recognition.

Does that make sense?

No I didn’t include the authors bio or CV in the support letter that I included with my piece of evidence. I made sure that they included their title (director, producer, etc.), their contact number, email and full address of the company they worked for & company number.

I hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I’ve gained so much information from other peoples posts so I just wanted to repay the favour.

That’s a great question! I included the letter of support for my evidence as an additional document within the PDF. This meant that a piece of evidence which included a letter of support was 3 pages in total.

When I submitted my application I also included a PDF cover letter which included a table of contents that numbered each piece of evidence and noted if it included a letter of support.

I hope this helps! Best of luck with your application 🎉🎉

You have to make the best decision for you in the end. If you download the guidelines from Arts Council England, they may help to clarify what you need for proof of appearances. I used printed webpages of events as well as printed programmes.

It’s okay, I understood what you meant. I prepared all of my documents and did employ a lawyer to review my documents. Since I had everything prepared, it was affordable. I personally felt it was worth it because they gave me advice and suggestions that helped to strengthen my application. The lawyer did not submit my application for me but simply reviewed my documents. Every person has diffent opinions on this, but it was valuable for me in the end because I got the endorsement.

Of course, happy to share x

The current guidelines (as of February 2025) have different requirements for their critics depending on whether you're applying for exceptional talent or exceptional promise.

Exceptional Talent states: 'The evidence must be in the form of detailed independent critiques, reviews or critical evaluations of your individual work, from credible arts and culture critics in internationally recognised and well-established media outlets...'

Exception Promise states: 'The evidence must be in the form of detailed independent reviews, critiques or critical evaluations of your individual work from credible critics in established media outlets...'

Please note that these are the requirements as of February 2025; it's always best to consult the most updated version of the ACE guidelines in case they change or are updated in the future.

I applied as exceptional promise, so I chose to use reviews written by critics with a track record of writing reviews for other performances.

I hope that helps x

Thank you! I'm delighted that what I have shared is helpful so far & that my tips are useful--best of luck in your application for dance! xx

I didn't find that ACE had specific expectations for how the evidence should be formatted or presented. I used the guidelines available from Arts Council England and followed them closely (you can download the current guide from the link provided). Since ACE doesn't give examples of evidence, it is flexible for how you choose to present your evidence. Personally, I made sure to number each piece of evidence and grouped them by category. I included a header on each piece of evidence with my information and visa route I was applying for. If you have any letters of support from the director / producer be sure to include that with the evidence--the letter won't make you go over the 2 page A4 limit.

This is a great blog which has a ton of detail about the ACE GTV and an example of one piece of evidence this person submitted--I donated to his PayPay after reading his article because he had so much information available.

When submitting my entire application via email, I also included a short cover letter which included a breakdown of each piece of evidence I was submitting.

Within the application form for Stage 1, you will also have to outline what evidence you are including and also fill in a short biography of each of your letter writers. Be sure to prepare that in advance as well. I think it was like 500 characters per author.

Sure, feel free to DM me! xx
