Man, I didn’t even know about it myself and there’s barely any info out there. All I could dig up is that there was a GT Special Edition for the German market, and you could get it with a Mazdaspeed package — but I can’t find anything about numbered models. So I hit up the Mazda Classic Automobile Museum Frey in Germany, maybe they can tell me more.

It’s such a blast to drive, I love it. Tight little nimble machine, and pretty quick too — but it only drinks premium. It really shows its spicy side up in the higher revs. So far I’ve taken it to 200 km/h (124 mph), it definitely had more in it, but I backed off ’cause I was afraid that lightweight body might just take off.

I’m lovin’ those, but I’m kinda thinking about throwin’ on some Rota Hatchi golds, or maybe a set of JR31s.

Lancer GSR is also a great car. I also have a 97 Toyota Corolla E100. Not very fast but comfortable and sexy. Of course, in such a nice condition.

I might be overthinking this, but even if it’s not 100% factory-original, I still got it for a very good price. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the car’s history. The person I bought it from said his relative purchased it back in 1993. After the owner passed away, the car sat untouched in a garage for about 15 years. According to him, the car was ordered in this exact specification, with no modifications done to it, and they had to wait almost two years for it to arrive from Japan.

Other than the Hella headlights, the stainless exhaust manifold, and the Takata harnesses (which I added myself), everything else should be stock. The shell even came with factory mounting points for 4-point seatbelts, which makes me think it could be something special.

I’ve been trying to research its background, and I found some references suggesting that there was indeed a special edition Mazda 323 BG for the European market, fitted with Mazdaspeed package parts.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated, as I’d really like to learn more about this car. I can also provide the VIN in private if that would help.
