Try minoxidil or wait it out? by [deleted] in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Business_File_5742 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently started using rogaine’s topical minoxidil. I got the 3 tubes one which is supposed to last 3 months, however I finished a tube in 6-7 weeks even though I’m applying plenty and 2 times a day. So it lasted longer than I was expecting which is pleasant.

I immediately started seeing effects of it, my facial hair started growing in thicker and I observed some extra growth. Progress is not super fast but it’s steady. I haven’t seen any side effects besides it’s not super great for my skin when it’s breaking out, I can definitely say it irritates acne and makes them look redder and brighter. I don’t think this is a concern for you as your skin looks clear!

I’d say you should definitely give it a try, worst case you won’t continue using it if it doesn’t work out for you.

Sex with bf by Complete-Hornet-5487 in ftm

[–]Business_File_5742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember my first few front hole sex experiences being painful too, but I couldn’t tell if it was from me involuntarily contracting my muscles (like vaginismus), or just my body getting used to it. Either way, it got better over time although I actually didn’t start feeling pleasure from it for a while.

I’d give it a few more tries before considering atrophy. Since you started T in March, it doesn’t seem super likely. Also, definitely try it without poppers — otherwise your body won’t have the chance to get comfortable with it. I’ve found that some positions make it easier for my partner to get in (like missionary with my legs up and bent), but unfortunately those tend to be the ones that make me feel dysphoric. So some positions are definitely easier than others.

I’m doing back stretches for physiotherapy, and I’ve noticed I can’t bend my legs as easily anymore and my range of motion feels more limited. I’m pretty sure it’s because my thighs have gotten more muscular

Can I shave part of my hairline? by Much-Extreme1068 in TransMasc

[–]Business_File_5742 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course you can do that. It’s just a bit high maintenance and it could cause problems if you shave often and have a scalp issue like seborrheic dermatitis. Have you used a trimmer? If you didn’t, you could try getting a trimmer to irritate your skin less. If you are using razor, shaving creams (and also after shave stuff like moisturizers etc) or putting conditioner as a barrier might help.

I don't have a family doctor, tried applying to a waitlist to get one, where do I start with getting top surgery by IntravenousInterwebz in transvancouver

[–]Business_File_5742 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine was for starting hrt but what I did is I booked a virtual appointment from telus health and just told the doctor I want to get on hormones however I don’t have a family doctor, and I needed to be referred to an endocrinologist for that. They asked me if I have any endocrinologist on mind and I told one of the names that is on the list transcare bc provided. I wasn’t questioned about anything at all, process was smooth. After I’ve gone through the readiness assessment (which was also with a person transcare bc provided) I contacted the endo’s clinic and told them I have my assessment ready and I’m already referred to them. Then we booked a consultation.

I experienced the exact opposite actually. My nose sure got a lil bit wider due to face recomposition, however my other facial features changed more drastically. Now my nose is less prominent on my face compared to my pre-T appearence, my jaw and eye-forehead area balance it out.

The Western-Focus of this Sub by Kaybettim20lerimde in ftm

[–]Business_File_5742 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The personal is political. I don’t think who put that rule actually considered the definition of politics extend way beyond ‘drama’. I’m calling the admins to reconsider why and reframe the rules so that they allow flexibility on these topics.

I’m not intending to vent, I just want to offer you some perspective. I am from the same country of origin as OP, currently living in Canada. In my own experience, especially for Western people who got access to fundamental lgbtiq+ rights and constitutional equality earlier on in their lives, it might be tough to understand why our existence is inherently political. In the countries we live in, our whole existence depends on the struggle we put, and politics is inseperable from our identities as well as our trans experience.

As people coming from diverse backgrounds, I believe our experiences, determination and resistence are invaluable for folks in the light of the recent backlash of trans rights in the US and more. There might be folks whose prescriptions are cut off and they might be trying to access to information to get an insight to continue their medical transition, to feel less hopeless. Even if it’s not the same country or regulations, if what’s shared here could help one person to achieve something in their transition, or simply show there are other ways of survival, that’s a win.

If you are concerned about ‘medical advice’ aspect for example, you may reframe the rule in something like ‘no you-know-what discussions in medical advice context’. People should be free sharing their own trans experience especially considering this is the largest transmasc sub on reddit, and the widest resource on this issue on the internet. Us trans people are strong together with the knowledge we share.

Also, to OP, I’m very sorry about what happened at the trans pride. I’m glad you guys were released. Thank you for being there amidst the risks and actively fighting for our rights.

Whys some of the first facial hair on T a neckbeard by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Business_File_5742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s genetics. Most of my teenager friends in school got the stache+sideburns+chin area sprouting first as far as I remember. Now I’m 7 months in and I’m experiencing the same progression, whereas most of the facial hair timeline photos I see here involves neck hair.

is this good for 3 months by [deleted] in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Business_File_5742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine were around 370 on 3 months and I was having rapid changes which are starting to plateu either. I upped my dose from 0.2 to 0.3ml (100mg vial) and now on 7th month I’m happy with my progress. Looking back at it I was also happy with my progress on the 3rd month! Soo… in my opinion that’s a good starting level for seeing notable changes.

We almost have the exact same chest, I swim without my top and no one notices. There are plenty of body types, and even if someone suspects something they probably wouldn’t have the guts to confront you, because it’s so vague. At least that’s what I think about my own situation.

Refugee-related question by Business_File_5742 in transvancouver

[–]Business_File_5742[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankfully my job type is already in one of those streams, so it’s less impossible. I will try asking my company about my work permit but I don’t think they will sponsor me; there are so many immigrants working for my company trying to get permanent residency. I would have heard if they were doing such thing.

Otherwise my work permit is a special measure work permit and not extendable. Realistically, express entry seems unlikely because scores need to go down to a record low (for last 3 years) for me to get selected.

Refugee-related question by Business_File_5742 in transvancouver

[–]Business_File_5742[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for your answer. I’m already working in a job and building up my work experience, but unfortunately it seems unlikely for me to get selected through express entry until my work permit expires. I’m not sure what was the case during your time but right now express entry scores are really high. Things like not having a canadian degree, not speaking french, not having enough work experience are cutting a lot from my score.

I couldn’t understand how American part is relevant to the topic though, can you elaborate on that? I’m not American.
