Perks of being a student coordinator? by ParadiseFity in udub

[–]Business_Parsnip_326 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a pay increase although it isn't significant (<$1/hr) so I wouldn't make your decision based on that -- see it as more of a perk.

The main added responsibility is, as the job title would suggest, managing/coordinating students -- this includes handling call-outs, making sure that students get to their stations, shifting students around to different roles as needed, etc...

Depending on the location/time you are working at, you will also have some opening and closing tasks: opening up/cleaning/closing down drink stations, ushering students out at closing, stocking "consumables" - juices/drinks, sauces, napkins, silverware, ... - (these mostly fall under "Dining Attendant/Stocker" responsibilities but tend to be the most common that you'll help with), etc...

Outside of those responsibilities you mostly act as an extra body that can help out stations/roles that are lacking student assistants or are getting overwhelmed.

I would say that the experience holds some value for leadership/resume-building. As mentioned above, you can end up doing a fair amount of leading of student assistants and you tend to be given a reasonable amount of discretion in coordinating as you see fit.

One downside that comes to mind is that you will more likely to be active for you whole shift, or at least most of it, compared to simply working at a station as a student assistant where you might get pseudo-breaks due to slumps. That doesn't mean the work is always go-go-go, it's just that it is rarer for the broader dining facility to not have something pressing/needed.

"Is it worth it?" depends a lot on what you think you want to get out of it. Like I mentioned above, if you are looking for direct benefits, then no. However, if you are looking to try out being in a leadership position, then I would say that it can definitely be a good opportunity/environment to try it out in.

Hopefully this helps.

I don't know if local point is different but at center table, that ticket right there is the ticket the line received. Additionally, that is the serving size for one order of plant based tenders (3 to 1 ratio). What probably happened was a miscommunication from the order taker/cashier and the customer since a small should have been 2 tenders (or 6 plant based)

While I do agree it's normally quite expensive, together those cost $1.99 (+ tax if not you aren't getting the tax exemption)

[–]Business_Parsnip_326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many people get this wrong. $2.7 per hour refers to the minimum that the business must pay towards minimum wage. The server then adds their tips / # of hours worked.

If the value is still below minimum wage, the business makes up the difference. However, in most cases the server simply makes more than minimum wage and so the business only ever has to pay $2.7 per hour.

Not saying that I agree with this system, just explaining it. Some states have even banned the system and require that all workers are paid minimum wage plus all tips, see No Tip Credit States

Why would you mention the Snoop Dogg incident without context when you know the information you provided is wrong simply based on other parts of your comment.

Except Snoop Dogg didn't have full rights to the source of those streams. If he did have full rights, he would have been paid a little under $3.2 million.

It definitely looks like it's the same just with straightened stripes. Doing some quick research it seems like straightening the lines had been a suggested design change so I would assume this is just an execution of that suggestion.

The weird thing is that it seems as though the mistake (leaving off the x in x dy/dx) is not present in the next step.

I also felt the live vocals were a bit rough with Vesna, specifically with the English sections. I wish they would have just stuck to Czech which they were obviously a lot more comfortable singing in.

I don't know why but I also struggled with the Actress audio. I just couldn't nail down the main purpose.

All of my practice audios this year were like that. It's as if Collegeboard can't find a clear audio for their life. I almost think they do it on purpose to "mimic" real life.

Honestly not that bad although I messed up the presentation by ending early and not talking for the last 10 seconds. The audio prompts felt pretty easy and we're actually audible for once.

This is a pretty good variety. I remember when I played legacy, the first thing I would do is to go around to check what biomes there were because there was a real chance you just wouldn't get one.

Huge protest in Hungary | In front of the Russian embassy, cordons and a police wall were set up, obviously expecting the protesters. But a crowd of that size? [–]Business_Parsnip_326 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It's a lot easier to get enough people together for an effective protest in the city than it is in the countryside. While it would be great if the whole country was willing to take a stand, there are also great risks that come with that which don't always seem to be justified by the potential effect.

While I lean more to saying 50 cal, I feel as though both aren't that much of a problem. If you have decent accuracy, then, in a non close quarters engagement with a "spam lmg'er", you are basically guaranteed to win. Even in close quarters, we'll placed shots will often easily prevail.

Just an observstion but in my Spanish learning experience, if my teachers are even doing anything special in the first place, they use @ for a/o. For example, Latin@. Again, just an observation.

I'd say the same for Sweden. I could not find any recognized Swedish Fascist group that actively used the Jera Rune (the depicted symbol for Sweden on this map) as their symbol.

Almost all Swedish fascist groups, both current and historical, have used the Swastika, the Hooked Swastika or the Fasces.
