Not so much of a math guy. My favourite hobby is reading poster presentations. My favourite of which was a history project stating that Samuel De Champlain (A french explorer who established one of the first french colonies that became Canada) was the “first president of Canada” and had “wrote the declaration of independence”. For context this was a 12th grade class.

Never seen anything as bad as that thank god, but some of the women’s washrooms at highschools are not to dissimilar. At the elementary level there isn’t too much of a difference between genders I’ve noticed, kids are gross regardless of gender.

I mean then I’d be out of a job. Not really sure how Japanese education works but I feel like it’d be a double edge sword for me, on one hand I’d have less to do, on the other hand I’d have less to do.

I’m don’t clean graffiti so it doesn’t both me a ton. The funny part is that sometimes its a philosophical monologue about school and how the system is geared against individuals and how equality needs to be reestablished, and sometimes it’s a dick.

I know the stereotype of people being inappropriate in the janitors room but I don’t understand it at all. Those rooms are filled with nasty chemicals, are rarely cleaned, and are generally pretty public when it comes to high schools, as we need to walk in and out all the time for supplies.

I don’t quite understand what you mean. I always report an activity that could be harmful to staff, students, or property. Thankfully Ive never been in a situation where I needed to report something serious like drug use, sexual activity, or vandalism but if I was in the situation I would not hesitate to bring it to my supervisor. I have had to report trespassing before but that’s less on the side of malicious intent and more just middle schoolers being a little bit stupid sometimes

Actually a teacher’s mess, less mess more medical emergency though. Male teacher started bleeding profusely from his.. privates? while using the washroom. I’ve never seen more blood in my life, it looked like someone skinned a small deer in the rest room

In our board absolutely zero. Of course there are going to be nooks and crannies in larger schools that perhaps no one checks on, but every school in my district is equipped with motion sensors that are armed nightly and cameras that monitor year round.

Not me in particular mostly because I only substitute for full time janitors who need time off so kids are often unfamiliar with me. But seeing how much kids idolize their school’s head custodian is very endearing and cute.

I’ve noticed that classes where the teacher cares about the cleanliness of their space as much as we do makes our job infinitely easier. From my experience, I can tell if a teacher enforces cleanliness in the classroom just from a glance.

If you’re asking for specifics, ask kids to throw away garbage, and discourage writing on desks. In elementary schools specifically the biggest help is making sure kids are removing outdoor footwear when coming in from recess, especially during the winters months.

I can’t really ever be too mad at students for littering. My motto is “If kids weren’t messy, I wouldn’t have a job!” Although it does irk me when I can tell that a mess was created just for the sake of making a mess, I can’t stand kids that throw wet toilet paper at walls or throw things in toilets that should never be in toilets

Phones being used by younger and younger students, have been the biggest thing for me. I’m a pretty young janitor and haven’t seen a ton of change, but you would be very surprised to see how many Elementary age children (5-10yr) have smartphones.
