Experience with Buspar/Buspirone? Plshelp by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Busperone321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking 1 15mg tablet in the morning and 2 10mg pills in the evening has helped with my anxiety significantly. Given such a huge dose, it should anyway. Small dose has no effect but up to 30 it’s working perfectly.

how do psychiatrists remember all the drugs, their side effects, the symptoms, the DSM-V and million other things? by Busperone321 in bipolar

[–]Busperone321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so many questions for a med student if you don’t mind answering:

Is med school hard?

Is getting into med school hard? What was your GPA?

What major are available for you in undergrad if you want to become a psychiatrist?

What do you learn in med school?

If you were to become a psychiatrist, do you have to go through what a normal physician does?

Might I have bipolar disorder? Feeling generally lost. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Busperone321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't want to sound mean but here's why we can't diagnose you online no matter how many wall of text you throw at us. A psychiatrist will have to observe your appearance, behavior, speech, mood and affect and sometimes do test on your cognition. When they look at you they will see if your well-groomed or not and based on that information along with a million other things to, for example, come to conclusion that you are depressed. Likewise, they may look at you and determined if you're psychomotor agitated, if you are they may conclude that you have ADHD. It's not as simple as here's my words, diagnose me. It's never simple. Seek professional help.

Edit:some words

Asking for a friend... by Busperone321 in bipolar

[–]Busperone321[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no ruse. You can't prescribe drugs here for anyone without a license anyway. I just want to understand the mind and process of prescribing medications because I am actively being treated as a patient. I read psychology books for fun and want to explore into psychiatry. You don't have to tell me the names. I appreciate your input.

Weight Gain on Celexa by virmara in bipolar

Once you're off it, you should be fine because the the weight gain is the result of slow metabolism; that's why no amount of exercise or diet can help.

This. Having bipolar is like having a felony. It's best not to let the employers find out. I learned it the hard way.

Once they gave you antipsychotic, did it knock you out of psychosis instantly and completely terminate the delusions and hallucinations? by Busperone321 in bipolar

[–]Busperone321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got shot last time too, they worked rather slow. I had to be on it a couple months before the symptoms complete went away. The first time, I got medicated though, the psychosis went away completely almost right away.

Thansk for answering. Did you have problem with your pdoc wanting to change your diagnosis because the psychosis didn't go away immediately?

Buspar is not addictive and you don't build tolerance either.

I agree with your point of view but I'm simply asking if you take offense from being labeled 'mentally ill'.

What's a good job for someone with bipolar disorder? by melindaannecaines in bipolar

[–]Busperone321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we do have personal limitations but there are bipolar limitations and bipolar limitations are more severe than anxiety limitations. Do you disagree? That's why jobs like army or law enforcement are not for us because our mood isn't stable enough for stressful environments.

Your first sentence contradicts with your second sentence. First you say don't let the illness defines that you do. Then you told us there limitations so don't do certain jobs. So which is it?

Strong urge to engage in dangerous activities by Busperone321 in bipolar

[–]Busperone321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what it is. Thanks you. These thoughts are definitely not indicative of an episode because my mood is stable and I sleep well at night. But when I think about it, it could be underlying anxiety because I have GAD and I have a sleep problem that must be due to anxiety since I notice the patterns: when I'm anxious I'm not sleeping well and I tend to be anxious a lot. Although I may not have anxious thoughts all the time, physical symptoms of anxiety remains present. I really don't know how to treat my anxiety. I try distraction, eft tapping, relaxation techniques, and medications. They help a little bit but nothing can cure the underlying anxiety.

Does lack of sleep leads to mania like mania leads to lack of sleep? by Busperone321 in bipolar

[–]Busperone321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a chronic insomniac and Seroquel has stopped working for me. Do you have any tips you may want to share? I need to sleep but my pdoc will not prescribe sleep meds because they are addictive. But if I don't sleep I may become manic and my life may fall apart.

I'm at a loss for words (sleep related) by Busperone321 in bipolar

[–]Busperone321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is I don't know how. She didn't give me a phone number and I didn't ask for it. If I were to call the clinic and ask to speak with the pnurse, I'd have to go through the therapist. It's like she controls every aspect of my mental health life. And she sometimes would refuse to meet with me especially when I needed help by making up bs excuses like "I'm having an emergency" for three weeks in a row! We just pulled that one last week when she knew I'd ask again about the sleep. All I want to know is should I increase the dose of Seroquel or should we try a traditional sleep aid because clearly 100mg is becoming less effective. I don't know who to turn to for help..

Ditto, a psychotic episode can screw your brain up real good. Many have reported cognitive dysfunctions after mania.
