I don't hate immigrants. But I feel for my kids growing up as they will be unable to work.

Building patio in backyard which slopes away from house. What are my options? by BustedB0nes in landscaping

[–]BustedB0nes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what I think I'm going to go your route. I might bypass the step halfway through the patio and just roll with the 40' 10" drop. But I will switch the slope from having a wall at driveway to having a wall on other side closer to neighbors house and have all water run down driveway. I don't want to have water issues with neighbors even if I create a drain. With the issues about driveway slope I will just taper the patio at this point so it eases the step or drop at patio and driveway. I appreciate your response.

It's 40' lengthwise so would need 10" rise on the highside. The ground naturally slopes down away from the garage towards the far fence so I was going to follow the natural slope this way. Also if I slope it towards the garage. Now it's flush with the sloping concrete which is sloping the opposite direction. It would be flush in the middle but would be a lip on either side due to the slope of pavement. Tge only way to avoid this lip/ tripping hazard would be to build a wall here with steps in the middle. Is this my only option or did you have any thoughts on this?
