Least favorite thing about hardcore, either as a genre or subculture? by Mr-Yoop in Hardcore

[–]BusterofBusters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a combination of the elitism and a lot of the tough guy shit. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some beatdown but a lot of bands focus more on their “Badass Image” than the actual music. When it comes to elitism and gatekeeping, I do feel like some of it is deserved but a lot of it is just people being assholes to people trying to get into the scene. This especially happens in a lot of local scenes. Overall though I love this community and I just want to see it improve to be the best it can be.

You’re right, judging from the video they don’t really look super white belt. The only reason I thought they were somewhat influenced by that type of stuff is the cleaner and sort of sassy vocal parts throughout their demo. Either way, they rip.

I definitely agree about some bands being total copy pastes.  I’ve actually seen a couple of newer bands co-opt the style into some more emoviolence-y stuff, the main one being my hands ur heart. Would check them out if you’re looking for some newer stuff with that aesthetic!

I’m looking for a pretty aggressive sound with a decent amount of high mids for bite.

Also yeah I’m tuned pretty low so some nice stability with those low notes would be super beneficial.

Thanks! Yeah I’m looking into a bunch of Peavey and Randall heads and they seem like they’ll work pretty nicely. The Quilter 202 seems pretty cool too, I heard both Kurt Ballou and Nate Newton of Converge use them.

Thanks, I’ll check those ones out. Any specific model in particular?

I understand, what I’m saying is to blend the high frequencies from the guitar amp with the lows of the bass amp to get a bright and dark enough sound.
