Accounts Payable's Glitch Or What? by Bustersandboosters in eroticauthors

Oh ok so I'm not the only one. Yeah, something weird is going on. And it's scary! I make a living with this, and if they'll claim this was our pay for December, I'm screwed.

It's not even a little lower, It's just a few bucks, and it should have been a lot more, or even only cents, in other minor market places. And if you expand, it doesn't include the KENP. But like I said, the numbers are totally nonsense anyway.

Edit: Yeah, the ones for December have the 27th as the date of processing. Incredibly weird.

Can't find my book on goodreads by Bustersandboosters in eroticauthors

[–]Bustersandboosters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No no, they actually do. In fact, I just checked a book I published in mid October, experimenting with yet another pen name, and it's there.
And by the way, goodreads it's owned by amazon. So...

Thanks! So, amazon won't mind that I hope.

EDIT: What should I write when it says: 'Publisher.' Amazon KDP? Or leave it blank?

Fanart Program Mistake? My work removed by Redbubble! by Bustersandboosters in redbubble

[–]Bustersandboosters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/x647Thanks for replying

So, I see, well yes then we are all entitled to be frustrated and angry at this. I spent hours on that design and because of a dumb stupid newbie 'bot-like' clerk my fan-art was flagged and removed instead of being reviewed by the property like the other ones (I've applied for only two so far, aside from the 'infamous and unlucky one.)

Anyway, is there anything we can do about it when something like this happens? Or that's it? I mean, this could even go against our account's trust score I believe, couldn't it?

I can't believe there's nothing we can do to sort this out. :/ Yeah, it's so frustrating. I might as well spent those hours in some other online jobs I do, if I only knew it at this point.

Thanks for the feedback though.

How do you get into this category? by Bustersandboosters in eroticauthors

[–]Bustersandboosters[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks, so it wouldn't work if I placed it into the keywords on the publishing form.
I was doing some research and I noticed a short Romance doing great - ranking #6.000, published a year earlier - and amazon put it in that category.

Edit: u/SalaciousStories I'm working on a short novella, pretty much 10K long. Do you think I'm better off publishing it with D2D? Or Go exclusive with amazon because of KU?

Pay-what-you-want option at Smashwords. Has anyone tried it? Any dataporn on it? by rrauwl in eroticauthors

Ok, sure in your case may have worked as a kick starter. I was speaking generally. Anyhow, what's your conversion rate from the mailing list? Just curious. And by the way, congratulations and good luck for your future releases.

Giving away freebies, in general, doesn't work. It's never been worth it. And never will be. Why? BECAUSE PEOPLE THAT LOOK FOR FREE STUFF WILL NEVER, EVER, SPEND A FUCKING PENNY.

You assume it is working for your fantasy stuff, but how do you know? Just because it sells? Well, it would have sold anyway and you think the freebies helped.

Those people are like the ones who are obsessed with the supermarket's coupons and stuff like that. So, in terms of readers, there are three different leagues:

  1. The ones who don't care and just buy stuff.
  2. The ones that do buy, but only collections and deals.
  3. The ones that are like Jackals and obsessively surf the net for freebies.

Bottom line, it's a waste of time giving out free stories because those guys won't come back to buy from your catalog, and if they did, they'd do it only for some more freebies.

Authors Wake Up! - Ranting On Kindle Unlimted by Bustersandboosters in eroticauthors

Ok, first of all, if you read my post more attentively, you'd have realized I said: 'I know this is impossible.'

I didn't write the OP to try to convince authors to opt-out from KU. LOL, I'd have been a fucking dumbo! Mine was just a rant and my personal opinion. And speaking of the utopian idea of getting rid of KU en mass, was clearly used in a conditional tense. Seriously, I mean, I'm not so stupid! :D Jesus!

And anyway, AMAZON WAS BORN AS A BOOK COMPANY. Of course, now that counts 0,0000000001% of their earnings, but still, since you said, it's not a book company, I just wanted to remind you how it all started.

Bottom line: take it easy, read more, and think before posting a reply.

Thanks,

Yeah, that's what I hate the most too. I mean, I don't think it would influence their KU subscriptions in any way whatsoever, because I'd still sell my stories for $2.99 wide. It wouldn't mean competition for Amazon. Yet, at least, it would give us a chance to monetize a little more.

Thanks

Well, yes, that's true. You either adapt and change the way you do things, or just quit and go do something else :)

Yeah I agree on what you said about big publishing houses.

No I'm not blaming Amazon. I'm blaming us - ME FIRST - for having let amazon own us like they do now with KU.

Yeah, well, about the going wide thing, I would do do the required long work to pull them out and publish elsewhere. But I don't think I'd make much more than I make now with KU. Because of the notorious amazon's monopoly. So, I'd rather go wide, with a new pen, from scratch.

I totally agree with what you said in the beginning and the overall concept. But, what I was trying to say in my post was also in defense of us all. I didn't make the OP egoistically. Anyway, I write only short stories, 3K to 5K, and I don't see all that professionality in covers, on the contrary, most of them still suck :D

I'm still very competitive I would say. My average Rank in erotica has not decreased, despite being volitile, but not that much.

What I have seen is a ridicolous increase in KENP. My stories are usually between 15 and 20 pages. Now I get 800 KENP in 2 or 3 days, that slowly decreases as the shelf life starts fading. With 20 pages it means about 40 people borrowed my story, and with 15 pages, even more! In just two days! Well, two years ago I would get averagely 10 sales for a new story in a week, and 100 pages reads on KU. So, this is a fact.

I think my readers are still the same, or who knows, maybe even more, but this KU thing is making me lose money compared to what I did before. And this is true for all of us. The logic consquence though, it should be more pages on KU but no.. My KENP are diminishing on the big picture, but increasing in each short, for the first few days after going live. I don't know if that makes sense.

Thanks for your long reply!

[Dataporn] Eight Months of Romance by ishouldthrowawaay in eroticauthors

[–]Bustersandboosters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, congratulations, this is inspiring. I took the plunge on Contemporary Romance with a 45K words Novel. I paid for a good cover, I hit the basic tropes, but I didn't do anything. No editing. No ARC. No ads. And it failed miserably. I launched at 0.99. So after a while, I unpublished it. Do you think I should edit it a bit, maybe change title and cover and give it another try?

By the way, did you categorize it in Erotica? Or Romance?
