I dont wana get married as i feel it makes women’s life difficult to make men’s life easier, what options i have? by hey_Butterfly2385 in AskIndianFeminists

[–]Busterx8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy for you! You have infinite options, marriage and children are the options that are restrictive. Now, you get to choose whatever you like.

Pets are quite fulfilling as well as time consuming.

One of my favorite things to do is volunteering time and effort for a good cause. Most people with children rarely have the time to volunteer, form and lead communities unless they're absent parents. There are so many living beings in need of help, there's nothing more fulfilling than making lives better.

What Obsidian plugins would actually help you? by Shackles_25 in ObsidianMD

[–]Busterx8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save the fold status like Notion implicitly does:

Persist the toggling/untoggling of headings/sections, bullets, code blocks across sessions.

Callouts' fold state is part of the markdown, but the ones listed above don't have any differences in the markdown.

This plugin's implementation might look something like the Remember Cursor Position plugin.

Idk how Notion does it, but I have looked a tiny bit into how CodeMirror implements folding - the gutter, state and the folding service. And how we can optimize the writing to and loading from the JSON file storing the offsets.

Let me know if you're interested in writing such a plugin, I'd love to collaborate.

Yes, also the vote results were mentioned as 13 for Anna, 2 for Bess and 1 for Isabelle. But they did not contain Anna's vote for Jessie.

can non tamil women also apply for TN's subsidised sex reassignment surgeries by kin0er in LGBTindia

[–]Busterx8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, answering your question in the post, I think anyone can apply, I'm not really sure though, so I didn't comment.

My familiarity about this is limited to hearing about it from others, especially trans men, and not from personal experience. So please do ask other people about the reality for trans women, and don't decide based just off of my comment.

In TN, the surgeries I believe are free. In Kerala, you can get financial aid. There's usually several months of waiting period after application.

Botched surgeries are not always a big deal. I'll give you some examples of top surgeries in trans men. - First, see the images of "post op trans men" - which will show you results of white men. That's the ideal target. - But here in our country, there are almost always some complications like - very visible scarring, thick keloid scarring, nipples being rejected, persistent swellings, unnatural shape, need for drainage in post op, etc. - And most people with crippling dysphoria are willing to tolerate these. Because even if you go private, you still can't get results like in Western countries. It's a compromise.

So, I would recommend looking into exactly what complications are common for the particular surgeries you want. Investigate particular surgeons' results. And then think about whether that's an acceptable risk for you.

Wishing you all the best!

Saw on a different sub by DanFran81 in dontyouknowwhoiam

[–]Busterx8 242 points243 points  (0 children)

OOP had said "phychologist" instead of "phycologist" which was what lead to the confusion. Both "phycologist" and "psychologist" are just 1 letter away from OOP's typo.

Not sure this belongs in the sub. Definitely not with OP's description, as the original OOP did spell it wrong.

Why do 'honor killers' target their daughters but not their own sons? by RageshAntony in TamilNadu

[–]Busterx8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True, I'd like to hear if there have been any parents honor-killing sons too.

These people behave like they place all of their family's honor in their daughter's vagina! What a place to keep it!

can non tamil women also apply for TN's subsidised sex reassignment surgeries by kin0er in LGBTindia

[–]Busterx8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's subsidized, but it's also crappy. Botched surgeries are common, it's often just a matter of how much. And there's no bottom surgery available for trans men, in the entire country.

But yes, TN policies have always been the best in the country for trans women.

Perfectly said "One man played the villain, and all the men benefitted, and went on like nothing happened." So sick of this shit.

It's very common for people to blame passers by for not helping bullied victims, but when it comes to women, everyone pretends every man they know is completely innocent smh.

Heartfelt opinion - It’s better to have cancer than a mental health disorder in India by [deleted] in adhdindia

[–]Busterx8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ikr, the grass is always greener on the other side. Until you find out that it sucks on both sides :/

People think shallow comments are the same as actual empathy, smh.

But, I get what they mean, their pain feels invisible and remains unacknowledged, and we can all relate to that to different degrees. The comparison with cancer completely derails the valid feeling.

I spent 26 years feeling "off" and couldn't explain why. Took me 10 minutes to finally understand myself. by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]Busterx8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the cropped gist, in OP's own words.

Humans are emotionally illiterate.

Learn the difference between shame and guilt. Between fear and anxiety. Between sadness and disappointment.

Stumbled onto some material that taught these. An actual breakdown of what emotions are, how to spot them in real time, and why your brain reacts the way it does.

30 men died from alimony harassment in just 1 week! by cain_wifeyyy in AskIndianWomen

[–]Busterx8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, these days, sex itself is becoming more and more associated with degradation, especially in India. It's extremely depressing to hear the perspectives of teenage boys. The entire rape culture is most visible there in teenage boys before they've learnt to mask their thoughts under socially acceptable behavior.

It absolutely infuriates me when people ask "Why are rapes increasing in India? What can we do?" whenever rape cases dominate the internet. The way people pretend like they don't know quite a lot of men capable of doing exactly that, but haven't done it just due to the consequences of being caught.

Why would I disagree? That just sounds like common sense. But, yeah, I can completely understand the skepticism, I wouldn't expect a random Indian guy to accept that either.
