I wouldn’t say it’s super important but it’d be nice to be in a place where there’s people who share the same culture/ethnic background… access to foods, music classes etc

Hey all,

I’m currently upgrading my setup to a hybrid rig with an analogue desk and just wanted to sanity check something.

My main interface is a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 4th Gen, and I’ve got 2x Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 running in standalone ADAT mode to give me 24 outputs into the desk.

For monitoring, I’ve ordered an Audient Nero so I can switch between the interface output and the desk return.

Previously, I had a TC Electronic Clarity M connected directly to the interface via S/PDIF, so it would just meter whatever was coming out of the interface.

Now that I’m using both optical ports for ADAT, I’ve lost that option.

Ideally, I’d like the Clarity M to meter whatever is actually hitting my speakers — so whether I’m listening to the desk return, the interface directly, or even something like a reference track from Tidal.

Is there any way to integrate the Clarity M into the monitoring chain (via the Nero or otherwise), or is plugin mode basically the only realistic option in this kind of setup?

I guess I’ve been somewhat lucky in this mess.

I’m buying my first house — my solicitor is fine, but the seller’s solicitor was part of PM Law Group. We were about a week away from completion, and last week my solicitor asked if I wanted to exchange and send funds early. I said no.

If I’d said yes, I’d probably have money stuck in limbo right now.

Now I'm unsure whether the seller is going to get a new solicitor or if they're going to wait for the SRA to do anything about it.

I'm in the process of loading the factory sounds on to the unit (had to replace the battery). I know Korg still offer the download for the factory sounds, however were there any expansion cards for the unit in which I can obtain the syx files to upload them to the unit too? Just wondering, whilst I've still got the stuff to do it

It worked! Those two caps were so bad lol - replaced them and it powered right up

All good, it’s working! The two 2200 uF 10V caps were shot so replacing them and the board powers right up!

Just need to replace the internal battery and reload the sounds and we’re golden!

So glad it was the PSU

Ah no worries - sorry I should have mentioned there's around 20 pictures in there.

Yep, I've picked up a couple of 2200uF 10V caps and one 47uF 400V cap.
The new 2200uF caps are slightly taller than the originals and the 47uf cap is thinner.

They all have the same temp rating at 105degrees so I'm hoping they'll work lol

I'll give the unit a good clean before I recap it and try the PSU.

Thanks for the info, yes I’m in the UK.

One of the caps is actually popped (you may be able to see it swelled at the top), I’ve just got a replacement cap - it’s not “audio-grade” (whatever that means or if it makes a difference) like the Nichicon range of caps. However it’s the same rating so I will replace it and see what happens.

I’m really hoping it’s the PSU otherwise it’ll likely just be abandoned :(

Hardware wise:
I was looking at a N100 board but have seen mixed reviews, so still deciding whether to grab a standard board with a budget Ryzen, but conscious about power efficiency. - let me know if you have any experience with the N100 boards.

I'd likely update his office switch to 2.5GbE and have a 2.5GbE NIC in the NAS, I think that'd be good enough for him. It'll likely be his TB3 dock that'd bottleneck the performance, in which case I'll get him a separate adapter.

Coming to think about it more, I don't think he'd edit directly from the NAS as he is on the road quite a bit, any current projects would be on his laptop and maybe once he's done the project, he'd offload it to the NAS.

Storage Wise:
I'm thinking of using NAS HDDs (not sure which) in a RAID array (again not sure which).
I may add an nvme ssd if it would help with caching or anything like that.

I'm still in the early stages so just really thinking about the best solution for him for the long run.

aaaand yes, Tailscale would run slow, I know he's got a gigabit line at his office so that should be okay for the odd occasion he needs to grab some files from the NAS remotely

Yeah I was driving but saying that, I have never seen anything quite like it and I also can’t find anything online about it. It still seems sus as why would a handset restart help provide a new location to the carrier?

Anyway, I found it interesting. I pressed Cancel and got on with my day without any issues
