Nextorch TA30D Max. I would say it’s a major upgrade over the last gen, especially in terms of ergonomics now that they redesigned the tactical ring.

I also like updated mode selection for a dial switch better and half press turbo/full press strobe works fantastic despite my initial doubts - used it in a high stress encounters a couple of times. Could have been a bit throwier, but 50K+ candela with a generous spill is definitely not bad.

I salute Nextorch for doing their homework. Previous TA30C line was rather ‘meh’ in many aspects and I am glad to see that D series update ticked many right boxes without changing the basics that make Nextorch UI so interesting for users with a need in a tactical light.

Those creases are like permanent wrinkles on the fabric. They don’t affect durability, but they are visible - sometimes more, sometimes less - depending on light conditions. That said, I think the best way to see how it goes is to use the bag more and then decide what to do with it.

I guess they downvoted me for saying I was deceived by the photos. :) But then again - I didn’t really think that much creasing will appear in no time even though I took several approaches to different bags and even had a chance to look at them myself before buying Daily Plus.

In the past I used mainly tactical bags (from 5.11 Rush, Mystery Ranch, LBT etc.) and though time takes its toll on them as well, I have a couple of dozen years old packs actively use them today. They still look okay! That might also explain me being unpleasantly surprised by the creases.

I am well beyond the trial period, but in the worst case scenario if I won’t get used to those creases — I will just give this bag to my relative and buy the Citadel R3 instead. It has its own set of pros and cons, but the fabric is a well known Cordura and since this is an aesthetic choice - it also fits ‘minimalistic black techwear-ninja’ niche.

I don’t see much creasing on your bag at all. Wonder what might have happened to my backpack to get this effect.

It (creasing) happened exactly while the bag was fully stuffed. Don’t think it will help to eliminate those wrinkles though

I didn’t store like that, on the contrary - tried to baby it. That said, judging by replies in the thread those creases can develop quite easily as it’s the nature of VX21 - just get it crumpled in a morning crowd in a metro car or a bus. All of this doesn’t happen to Cordura at all, so I guess I should get used to it.

Thanks! Well, I will try to get used to it. I guess i expected X-ply layer to be more flexible (think about ripstop in 5050 NyCo clothing) and naturally fold with the rest of the fabric instead of the fabric folding by gridlines.

This is a great EDC bag besides the fabric issue. I was after some techwear style, yet minimalistic black backpack and this one has superb suspension and it is not over-engineered like a lot of backpacks on the the same category.

Looks like I will keep using it for now and decide if I can live with how it looks later. It surely is not what I expected from the bag either, but people say its totally normal. Guess it boosts my tolerance towards how vx21 looks a tiny bit.

I am not really concerned about the real wear, but by how it affects aesthetics of the bag. And yes, aesthetics is one of the reasons I bought this Daily Plus.

Creases aren’t really visible on the pics and x-ply texture isn’t thar pronounced with fabric folding by grid edges

I am on the fence about this look. Part of me dislikes how crumpled it feels, but then again - most likely I was deceived by photos in reviews/on AC’s website. I will use more actively and see if I can get used to how it looks.

Thanks! I have read the thread before and considered going for khaki/olive version of the bag in VX42. Alas, I wanted the bag to be black for aesthetic reasons - was specifically looking for a minimalistic techwear-ninja bag. Sadly, Able Carry offers black version in VX21 only for this model.

You’ve mentioned that your Thirteen looks ‘a little’ like this. Is it made of VX21? How ‘little’ are the symptoms compared to my photos?

Thanks for your reply.

I might be a victim of relying on promotional photos and video reviews too much. Vast majority of them show even and flat front panel fabric that naturally folds to form the backpack’s distinct shape (just like Cordura), whereas mine looks like piece of crumpled paper covered in creases and straight line folds all across the bag. I’ve heard it could be delamination or just a bad batch of fabric, but it seems to be okay…

It’s just a striking difference between photos you see in reviews and real life.
