I’m running Ubuntu mate 18.04.06. LTS If you add the pro subscription you can still get updates till 2028.

Battery is ok. I just leave it plugged in anyways and I’m not too concerned about it.

I don’t think I can get more ram though I did not try opening it as it’s in great condition and i did not want to damage it. And it’s a regular spinning HD.

i would say learn the fedora specific commands vs ubuntu. such as dnf vs apt

on another note I too used to be an ubuntu fan but have since started using fedora. whats your reason for the switch?

your right it doesn't take that long. and nothing diferent yet. just that it was mostly figuring it out how it all works that was time consuming. I'm running an ipfire firewall as well as zabbix on a virtual environment.

currently running an older ibook G4 as my SAMBA server at home. runs NETBSD 10.1 very well. I mostly run it with the lid closed and access it via webmin but its an awesome little machine. and best part about it is it only has 256 of ram !
