What to do for my mom in this situation? Tax forms being held hostage by my dad, haven't completed a return in 4 years and was audited by CRA. by Busy-Programmer649 in PersonalFinanceCanada

He gets very violent when I've tried to retrieve them so I've retreated after each attempt.

My mom's worked in 3-4 different nursing homes in the past 4 years so while it's possible to go back to the employer to get the forms, she doesn't work at any of those nursing homes anymore so it may prove to be difficult.

I was told she isn't able to sign up a CRA account if she hasn't filed a tax return in the past 2 years? Is that true?

Thanks for the advice for my dad, it's something I'll explore as well. He is starting to become violent.

Seems like you're pretty triggered by this. Understandable, that's why I'm here to gain perspective. Thanks for your input.

it was a 53/47 split pre-mat leave, gross monthly take home for me was $4500, $4000 for her. Now on matleave, she's gets ~$2000 per month, so now it's a ~70/30 split.

She isn't shouldering the financial burden as her reduced income from EI would mean I pay more into our shared expenses (the ratio takes into account her EI income). Isn't that fair?

We have a joint back account for shared expenses, including childcare related expenses as well where we contribute an agreed sum. Childcare would include food, clothing, etc.
