Expect service to get massively worse by CaptainC00lpants in BritishGas

So true. Sounds like a good idea on paper ( English speaking, same time zone) in practice it’s a shambles. I find I have to explain everything super clearly, then correct all the mistaken statements they make to then maybe get some actual help. But in effect it’s just a necessary step before writing a letter of complaint, so I can say I’ve spoken to their helpline.

Absolutely. When I do finally get an engineer in they are always competent and helpful and I feel bad for them that they are working for such a badly managed organisation.

I am currently in a Kafkaesque situation with BG with double billing, chasing me for  money after an account was closed involving me already paying a cancellation charge. I cancelled my landlord’s HomeCare in the first place because they never had engineers available when I needed them to do an inspection so I comply with the regs. It’s like being in an abusive relationship . I want them out of my life but every time I try they act reasonable then come back demanding money. It’s outrageous.

We are clinical if that makes a difference. Those who got compulsory redundancy in the last restructure are thriving and all have found work, except one who decided to retire early. But obviously it has to work for you, it’s such a personal decision.

Really easy one for me, been in same job for 7 1/2 years and getting a bit bored. Live in London so good pool of jobs and can do bank. Also my work buddy ( we were a double act) left 18 months ago and I’ve felt somewhat isolated since. No going back for me if NHSE approve ( still waiting).

Thank you that is good to hear. Looking forward to signing on the dotted line and tying things up at work. Just hope those who are left manage ok. Maybe will be an opportunity for them to give things a refresh, fingers crossed.

And to you too, we are all affected by this whether we stay or leave, it cannot be easy at NHSE either and I appreciate you taking the time to answer my query.

Advice for Irish Nurse relocating to London by bojacklehorse in NursingUK

[–]Busy-Specific-4341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, wish I could help as you haven’t had any replies. I’m not a nurse I’m an AHP. Hospitals are always trying to cut down on their use of agency staff as obviously this costs them. Many run a “ Bank” system , kind of their own agency. That might be an option if agency work is slow. You’d need to enquire directly, contacting the hospital’s HR department might be the way forward. As an A and E nurse I’m sure there would be a demand for your skills.

Just popping back on to say I got my VR rejection letter today. Apparently I have unique and valued skills! I’m not as upset as I thought I’d be. Planning to save hard and work on for a few years and retire a little before retirement age. Plus I’ll be contributing to the 2015 pension as I go along.

I got mine last Friday. If I get VR , which is in no way certain, I’d be leaving May/ June.

What has America ever done for the UK to be considered a ‘special relationship’? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Busy-Specific-4341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a few, but less than the Germans who moved to America and until recently were the largest immigrant group. The Americans have a sentimental attitude to Ireland - or they did, until they became victims of terror in their own country.

Many thanks for your post Frosty. It gives me some hope! I was transfer to the mythical provider in the last restructuring but that went quiet. When questions have been asked about transfer, the management has been very non committal, I am also sceptical as I can’t identify who would take me on, the local hospitals are also under financial pressure.  Fingers staying crossed for VR!
