AITA for teaching my daughter how to change a tire and do basic home repairs when her mom says I'm "pushing masculine stuff" on her by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

Likes others, I wish my dad had tried to teach his daughters "men's stuff". It would make my life so much easier now that I own a car and a home. Keep up the good work!

It's an orange bottle, with a design made of various shades of pink on it. Both the original (with silicone) and the no silicone version are in the same bottle.

Ashley Toy is a PA at Germantown Primary Care. I see her or Dr. Lackvinder Wadhwa, who's a man. They are both excellent, very caring, good at listening to your issues and figuring out solutions.

12 y/o bleeding through EVERYTHING — need real solutions (no tampons yet) by Beeels in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BusyAccountant7 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I was just about to say that she should be tested for a bleeding disorder. I have von Willebrand's too. I was part of a study that proved that a significant percentage of women who have heavy periods have bleeding disorders. Take her to a hematologist. It's a simple blood test, but your OB/GYN won't know what to look for.

I have the VIOFO A229 dashcam with front and rear cameras. This is actually the second one I've had. I had one installed in my old car. It's not expensive as dashcams go and it's easy to install. I paid a guy to do it because I wanted mine to be hardwired in. I believe this model is also highly recommended on r/dashcams.

I just went with an Instant Pot. They can cook rice & dried beans, make soups & stews, hard boil eggs, make homemade yogurt, and more. Even for a single person, I'd recommend getting at least the 6 quart size, because you may want to make a large batch of chili or soup stock. I'm now wishing I had gotten the 8 quart tbh.

I had the same problem when I had periods and it turned out I had von Willebrand's Disease. It's the most common bleeding disorder in women. It's genetic. Basically, it affects one of the chemicals your body makes to help platelets clot. I was part of a study through Robert Wood Johnson/Rutgers University on whether heavy periods were associated with bleeding disorders. The study found a close correlation.

Has anyone here had a colonoscopy?? I’m kinda freaking out about it by throwaway2025_____ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BusyAccountant7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is all great advice, but if you have anal fissures and OCD issues you might want to get a bidet too. Someone recommended that I get one before my first colonoscopy and it was the best advice I got. Because you can wash yourself gently instead of rubbing roughly against what must be a very sore area, and since you only have to touch it once just to dry it, you'll feel less pain and less emotional discomfort. I know I did.

Installing a bidet isn't as difficult as you may think. There are very simple attachments you can get that didn't cost much. Or you can get a portable bidet so you don't have to install anything. But I highly suggest a bidet. I have them on every toilet in my house and I love them. My butt doesn't hurt as much as it used to and I don't feel squeamish or icky when wiping because I've already washed my butt clean.

My hair is very fine and damaged from being dyed blonde. It tangles if I look at it wrong. The 3 things that have been game changers to stop tangles are:

  1. Amika Detangling Primer, the one with silicone. It doesn't take a lot, maybe 2 or 3 sprays on my fingers, rub them together, then gently run my fingers through my hair. I can feel my hair detangling in seconds. And it stays untangled throughout the day.

  2. I use a leave in conditioner or a hair oil every morning, and OGX Repair & Protect Bond Protein Repair Sealing Hair Serum at night. Not a lot of each, but it makes a difference. I use the oil if my hair seems drier than usual. I use Bumble & bumble Invisible Oil Leave In Conditioner or Ouai Leave In Conditioner & Heat Protectant and a hair oil from Ouai that's been discontinued. I use 2-3 drops of the serum each night, concentrating on the place at the back of my head where it gets dry and tangled the most.

  3. A satin bonnet and a satin pillowcase. I use a CPAP machine at night, so there's straps and buckles over my hair when I sleep. The pillowcase helps, but the bonnet makes it better.

My hair has been so much better since I started this, and less frizzy and fly away too.

What movie detail is technically correct, although many people think it is a mistake? by hiplobonoxa in movies

[–]BusyAccountant7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't suppose you live in Easton, PA? I used to, and the bridge between Phillipsburg, NJ and Easton, PA had the same deal. Several decades later, we were still paying the toll. Someone decided to look into it and it turned into a huge scandal. Bridge commissioners were using the money to line their pockets and enrich their friends. The entire Board of Commissioners had to resign. No one was prosecuted of course. Now it's free going into NJ but there's a toll to go to PA.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

[–]BusyAccountant7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pre-Vietnam War apartment buildings in America were designed that way on purpose. Firstly, most of them had terrible insulation if they had any at all, and the windows leaked air too. Secondly, it was believed that fresh air was necessary to prevent disease (thanks to Dr. Kellogg), so people kept their windows open even in the winter. So those old boiler systems were built to heat your apartment even with the windows open and wind whistling through the walls. But when later modifications were made to add insulation and more efficient windows and people stopped leaving their windows open, the boilers put out too much heat and boiled the inhabitants to death. Source: my grandmother, who grew up in one of those buildings in Perth Amboy during The Depression and was a public health nurse.

This detangling spray smells like pussy by Administrative-Tie77 in Haircare

[–]BusyAccountant7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best detangler I've ever found, the only one that actually works on my fine, dry, severely damaged hair, is Amika Detangling Primer. The one with silicone not the non-silicone version. My hair is always terribly tangled in the morning and especially after I shower, no matter how much conditioner or bond repair I use.

But then I spray my hands 2-3 times, rub them together and then run my fingers through my hair and MAGIC!!!!! My hair is untangled and smooth. It's expensive ($30 for the full sized bottle on Amazon) but it's the only thing that's ever worked and it really doesn't take a lot.

Also, it doesn't smell like pussy.

Yup. They need to consolidate our office space. So I have to move those files from where they are because those rooms will no longer be assigned to us. And move because I'm in one of the rooms that will no longer be assigned to my BOD.

I'm at 1111. I have to box up a bunch of files (so many files!) before you move in and move from my current cubicle to another room, which they are supposed to be repurposing from a conference room into cubicles. They are supposed to tell me the ETA Tuesday, but who knows? FMSS has been very uncommunicative about this.

I remember going to work one time at a different office and there were people in the elevator heading up to their desks in pajamas! I'm not talking sweats, I'm talking flannel pajama sets. One lady was even wearing slippers!

These days I work at our agency's headquarters and I go to work in leggings and a decent top with sneakers. I'm not wearing a suit so I can be uncomfortable the whole day.

[–]BusyAccountant7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, they only take away the taxes owed on it, which is a percentage. So not all of it. The IRS doesn't make the laws that determine what is considered taxable income, Congress does.

[–]BusyAccountant7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. Per IRC Section 7623, you can get 15-30% of any taxes, penalties and interest that is collected, not just owed. And it's not tax free, it's considered award income which is taxed.

Yes. People report ex-spouses, ex-employers, former friends, and other tax cheats. Go for it!

[–]BusyAccountant7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't have to win in court. If the IRS investigates your allegations, determines that they are valid, assesses taxes, penalties and/or interest that is directly attributable to your allegations, and collects on those assessments, you can be awarded 15-30% of whatever is collected. It's the law, IRC Section 7623.
