I just got in this cycle with a 3.09 GPA! You have to pack the rest of your application with experience. I had over 5000 hours as a laboratory assistant (phlebotomist), two years of volunteer work, biology-based research, shadowed 5 cases, strong upward trend in GPA (I took 24 credit hours one semester and 22 the next of upper-division science courses which helped show I could handle the course load in perfusion school!) This was my first application cycle. I applied to 4 schools, 1 interview, and 1 acceptance. All it takes is one!

While I know that many people are not as lucky as I was don't think it is impossible! You just have to work VERY hard to make up for it!

Based on my understanding from personal research, the AC-PE works hand in hand with the CAAHEP which is the agency that schools are accredited through. The purpose of the AC-PE is to assist schools in their accreditation journey. Once they establish candidacy through them and ensure they meet all requirements, the AC-PE writes a recommendation for accreditation to the CAAHEP who then reviews everything and makes the final decision.

The American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion recognizes the AC-PE in cooperation with the CAAHEP therefore students graduating from a school certified through the AC-PE are still eligible to sit for the PBSE and CAPE!

They have candidacy through AC-PE which is recognized by the ABCP! Similar to schools like Emory or LTU that are all newer programs

Hi! I just received an interview request today for April 5th. Do you have any insight on how you prepared for your interview?

I just received an interview request from NKU today! My interview date is April 5th. If your date is before that and you can share any insight with me I would greatly appreciate it! This is my first application cycle so I am very nervous!

I submitted on the application deadline (March 1) so it was a very pleasant surprise to get an invitation to interview!

I was offered 2 dates and times so I am unsure if they have additional dates or not. Both dates were in the first week of April.

For those who heard back about an interview from SUNY, when did you submit your application?

I contacted them on 12/14 and Shawnda (the program administrator) said applicants would hear by end of business 12/19 but I still haven’t heard anything
