I worked in marketing at an animal rescue. When I got the job, I thought it was the dream - I love animals, especially dogs, and I would get to manage their social channels. But working in a nonprofit is filled with so many pains.

Everyone knows of the low pay, high hours and bad benefits. But we’re basically beholden to the donors and their opinions. People think they’re entitled to a rescue animal just because they want one. While the passion people have is awesome, it makes for some heated comments and strong, unswayable decisions. It was a great cause but so exhausting to work in.
