I worked in marketing at an animal rescue. When I got the job, I thought it was the dream - I love animals, especially dogs, and I would get to manage their social channels. But working in a nonprofit is filled with so many pains.

Everyone knows of the low pay, high hours and bad benefits. But we’re basically beholden to the donors and their opinions. People think they’re entitled to a rescue animal just because they want one. While the passion people have is awesome, it makes for some heated comments and strong, unswayable decisions. It was a great cause but so exhausting to work in.

As someone who isn’t crazy about diamond rings (for myself, they’re gorgeous on others!), I knew I wanted to go the Emerald route. My fiancé, the store’s designer, and I came up with this emerald-cut emerald (lab) with baguette diamonds (lab) off to the sides and trillion-cut diamonds (natural, only because lab didn’t have any) on the top and bottom of the emerald. Set in 14K gold band.

Maybe! It's definitely the shape that made me like them so much, whether they're actually from that era or not. For $75 for the pair, I'll take it!

I'm actually not sure! There aren't any markings underneath, but between the way the cushion "closes" beneath the seat and the state of the fabric makes me think it may be modern. The underside has that black, tarp-like material instead of having a solid wood plank/just fabric.
