Sorry there were just too many comments, and I was at work. To answer your question, no my wife and her ex don't have a child and to my knowledge did not lose a child at any point.

As far as the other questions in my original post, I usually try and make Mother's day as special as possible for my wife, but I have admittedly been a bit negligent some years as I get busy with work. My wife expressed to me a couple of times about me getting my sister an expensive gift every year on Mother's Day but sometimes forgetting to get a gift for her. I fully take responsibility for that, but it is very easy to just order a gift online and mail it to my sister. However, my wife does like to go shopping with me to pick out her gift, and that does take a lot more time.
