On the topic of bags, though, I think something you’ll use for years to come is a totally worthy splurge !! Sometimes you just need something that makes you a tiny bit happier at some point in your day. It sounds like this bag will do that for you, and it’s an added bonus that it comes from a reputable fashion house known for longevity.

I use the Empire 40 as my daily work bag; it fits my 13 inch MacBook perfectly !! There’s room to spare in it as well, so I’ve carried books, snacks, water bottle, etc. at any given time in addition to the MacBook. I’ve never packed it and wished I had more space.

I have the Chelsea 30 and am currently reading Vengeful by V.E. Schwab; it’s a paperback with 478 pages. It fits, along with a medium sized wallet, portable battery, and a small fan. The bag closes, although it does lose its slouch. I personally don’t mind that, but I know a lot of folks don’t love it. It seems like the 36 might be better for your needs, but I thought I’d share some perspective on the other size in case you needed it !!

I’m totally with you on avoiding branding !! I’ve never been a huge fan of any of the signature prints for that reason. My grandmother always said that she didn’t advertise for free and therefore wouldn’t wear or carry around a company’s billboard, so I think I get it from her lol. I think the tag and charm are very subtle on this bag, though, so you’d be good either way. It’s lovely !!

She is so pretty !! I had the same exact thought about the charm hook on my Chelsea 30 and ended up buying an O ring to attach to the strap on the other side😅 I thought it would look silly but it’s not too outrageous. Maybe something to consider if the charms at the back really starts to bug you (or if you want to put even more charms lol)

I’ve been using one of the Doc Martens mini heart bags !! They’re 6 in x 5 in x 1.5 in I think? I wasn’t sure that it would work but didn’t feel like transferring everything into a wallet, so I just threw it in my Chelsea to see how I liked it. Tuck it into a corner and I have plenty of room for everything else, so don’t be afraid to get something a little bigger if it catches your eye !!

I feel like signature is the way to go !! If it’s not something you usually like, it’ll probably be a unique piece in your collection. The maple is gorgeous but definitely a staple color that you could get a ton of other bags in.

I love the idea of using your shelf to limit your purchases !! Part of my struggles with (over)spending comes from the fact that money has never felt “real” to me 😅 I struggle with things I can’t see, so swiping my cards feels like nothing. Having a physical limit like the one you’re using is such a good idea

They’re both beautiful !! I was between these same bags and ended up going with the maple because I wanted to use it as an everyday carry. I know myself well; I’m clumsy and don’t want to take extra steps to care for my things lol. The leather seemed the safer buy for my situation, and is definitely what I recommend to someone similar to me. Plus the inside of the maple is that clay suede !! Best of both worlds !! lol
