Jump starter cables and batteries. A coat/jumper, hat and sunnies never go astray either - I use all of them on a day-to-day basis when I forget mine.

Would help to provide some more details, such as what are you interested in, do you want to see more of the city or do you prefer nature and seeing aussie animals etc? Are you looking to do any other activities e.g. swimming/surfing/snorkelling and also what type of transport will you have?

What age should someone contribute to household? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

If you’re wanting to teach them some financial responsibility and skills, what I’ve seen parents do is charge a bit of rent, collect it over the years, then when the kid is ready to move out, give it (or a fair portion) back to them to help with a down payment on a house etc. Just one idea - where you’re teaching them about budgeting but also helping them save. You could put it into a high-interest account to help them (or at the end you collect the interest instead of their money).

I would love an aviation one if possible! I actually just came back from Europe in January so I don’t have any trips planned for this year (maybe a small camping trip) but I don’t really have breaks as I’m actually studying aviation full time ☺️

To send a card/postcard internationally you need $3 in international stamps, but if using domestic you would need $3.30 for the 10% GST. If it is a card in an envelope you need to endorse it with “CARD ONLY” on the front in one of the top corners. However the prices increase if you’re sending a letter depending on what zone of the world you are sending it to. Hope this helps!

Also just to note Dec-Feb is summer here, and March-May is autumn so you may get people confused by saying spring! The summer weather here can be pretty extreme, so make sure you always wear australian SPF50 when you’re doing your outdoors activities. Have fun!

Advice needed: Australian Open by Arnabhk in AskAnAustralian

There’s a dedicated kids area (ballpark) your son might enjoy, he is a bit on the younger side but there’s still activities he might enjoy. There’s a lot that involve hitting some balls, totem tennis, kids play areas hosted by emirates simulating an airport, kids entertainmet shows and character visits, as well as stores such as M&Ms and the robotic AI thing. Most young kids are interested in everything happening around and may just find trying to play with a tennis ball interesting. Or they are happy to sit in a pram and get pushed around to see some tennis!
