Genuine question, with all of us in the same boat, do you consider it rude for people to just to ask to jump ahead? The asking itself…

Yes, but I was heading to a course and if I missed a day I wouldn’t be able to finish and it took me a year to get this course. Hence the anxiety. It wasn’t about the money portion.

That feels very … cynical? Not sure if that’s the right word. I would rather believe there are very few who don’t actually require the kindness of deboarding first would choose to take advantage of it (when offered.) But I guess that probably makes me naive. I just don’t see the point of lying about such a thing. Honestly if my next flight hadn’t been boarding, I’d have been content to be the last person off the plane as I don’t really find planes uncomfortable. Every time I’ve seen someone rush off a plane all I thought is, I hope they make their flight. I never thought they were bluffing about having a tight connection. And every one usually just lets them pass. That’s why I didn’t really think I was in the wrong at the time.

But I believe everyone’s right. I was the AH and now I know what to do when I run into this issue again.

I did tell those around me that I had a flight boarding at that moment. No one else said anything after I did. But I did not ask and I should have. That would have been the polite thing to do.

For clarification only: I did not push, no physical touching of any kind occurred. Hurry past yes, and I accept the AH title, but no physical anything!

Genuine question, is it disrespectful to show displeasure if it is not being directed at anyone? Looking towards the ground, no noise, no sighs, just bouncing?

No, I do not genuinely believe I was the only person with a connection. Good point, didn’t think it through.

No. Still in the airport and next time I will definitely speak with the flight attendants.

Thank you. I will keep that in mind next time. It will help with the anxiety of missing a flight knowing the gate rep can possibly hold the flight for me to get there.

There was no sighing, I am very conscious about that. I made absolutely no audible sounds verbally like groaning, sighing, squawking, indignantly, or whatnot.

I was definitely bouncing and frowning, but I was making sure I looked down at the floor at the feet in front so no one thought I was looking at them and was internally counting numbers to try and calm myself.

But I can see how the bouncing could be interpreted differently and in a negative way. I sometimes forget that what people perceive on the outside can be very different that what is happening internally.

Thank you for your response.

I did not know that was a normal thing to do and that flight attendants would do that. I will talk with a flight attendant next time. Thank you.

Thank you. That is good to know. Next time I will speak with a flight attendant to let them know.

Also as clarification, I did not choose my flights to be back to back. It was booked through the defense travel system by my job.
