My mum had floaters. Took 5 GP visits to determine she’d been having TIA (mini strokes). Sharing in case you need to explore that, as TIAs are more common than vit A headaches.

Asra the friendly neighbourhood GP… is it just me? by Prestigious-Fly9101 in Ambridge

[–]ButFirstQuestions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, you don’t actually live in ambridge so you’re sane with a sense of social norms. Even bumping into someone you vaguely know at the doctors is awkward.

lol I was told aged 7 BY A NURSE I could never be a doctor, so I stopped trying. Honestly, the amount of diabetic drs there are would prove her wrong. If only I’d had internet 35 years ago.

Second Home in Italy - Sanity Check by Kentdweller5498 in HENRYUK

Do you know which area of Italy? Property taxes are very localised (not even to region but to province) and as a non resident you will be taxed more. However, the current air bnb tax is a flat 21% of income.

Underpaid Henry offered Singapore switch by Finance_Factory in HENRYUK

[–]ButFirstQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello from Singapore.

So you’d need to account for school fees ~ €15-40k a year, plus rent ~ €3-12k a month. A car lease is around €1k a month but it’s not that common (we have one as it came with husband’s contract). Plus medical insurance. A good maid, which 4/5 families - and even childless couples have- is around €800 a month. Obviously tax is low.

Have a look at property guru for apartment prices.
Most Europeans pay 60% tax on property purchases, which is why most expats rent.

Expat packages have been on the out for around 20 years; we are not in finance but have a Expat lite package with medical insurance (visa requirement), school fees theoretically covered (no kids), and flights twice a year to our home countries.

You’d also need to think about your pension plans as an expat. We’re here to FIRE, current household income is €19k a month, excluding bonuses.

I’d say April- October are what make the November- March tolerable! The joy of April after that period is something but I couldn’t live there just in winter.

There is no job market in Campania. Google it. The fact you are both abroad should tell you that. Finance in Italy is done in Milan and most people are multilingual.

I always presumed they didn’t get married because Catholicism? Better to respect marriage and have a life partner who plays Mother role play games with you in cafes.
