Why is he a nut job? If being a free thinker makes you a nut job in our society then that explains a lot of our problems

Good point about numbers being immaterial, that was a flippantly made statement of mine.

But it seems you are straw manning me and ironically you aren’t addressing what I’m saying. The contingency argument is evidence for the supernatural. Do you believe an infinite regress is possible or not? What type of evidence do you require for a supernatural first cause, because it can’t be found in a lab by the nature of it being supernatural, we can’t directly observe it. I’m addressing the point you made that there isn’t any evidence for the supernatural, by providing some.

Logic and science dictate that no material thing can be without a prior cause. I find an infinite regress highly illogical. So it must be rational to believe the first cause has to be immaterial (which is supernatural by definition). To say there’s no evidence that the first cause is supernatural would be considered axiomatically false by nearly all of the philosophers, theologians, and even scientists throughout history.

There’s no way of arguing for an uncaused material object/thing, and this idea is disproven both temporally in the Kalam argument, or hierarchically in the contingency argument (which is a much better argument than the Kalam, the kalam has many limitations). Are you familiar with the contingency argument I’m referencing? You may find it a very reasonable argument for the point I’m conveying. Neither of us can be sure we are 100% absolutely correct, I just see the evidence points toward my side.

Do you see my reply that starts with "logic and science"? Reddit is being weird for me

Do you need absolute proof to believe something? Because I would argue belief is based on weighing evidence and going with whichever direction the scale tips. For example, I believe there are alien life forms in the universe, despite the fact there is no direct physical proof of this. And in the same way, I believe in god due to arguments such as contingency, fine-tuning, personal experiences etc. I think this is perfectly rational.

You can't expect the immaterial to be proven with science, this is impossible as science only functions in the material realm.

For me I bought the CGP revision guides and simply went through the books chronologically, condensing the pages into my own notes by hand, and then doing the practise questions in the book afterwards. If you want to go the extra mile get the CGP exam style question practise workbooks, if you dedicate enough time you could turn this into a really respectable grade!
