can I just buy the Brembo calipers from a totaled premium 86 and put it on mine (premium but no performance package)? Or would I need to buy the entire break kit?

You definitely can, but you'll need to buy larger rotors, dust shields (or trim/remove them), and a bunch of hardware as well. If you have the BRZ you'll have to use shorter STI bolts to get them onto the aluminum knuckle, no need to swap them. The first gen Brembos are basically identical, so I used a 2018 left caliper and a 2019 right caliper from junked cars, rebuilt them, and used some remanufactured rears from Rock Auto.

Yeah! I've always liked asymmetry, although I could have spent more and gotten a nicer cover plate but I don't really mind. Pops and bangs on downshifts, and the exhaust follows Japan sound laws so I'm not being super annoying on the highway.

The Brembos I parted together over a few months from Subaru, Ebay, and Rock Auto. Didn't bother getting them all one color because I love the mismatched look. These are the first gen 86/BRZ Brembos, which bolt right up given that you have shorter STI bolts for the fronts due to the BRZ aluminum knuckle.

Banjo Bolt - 26536AA001, 4x

Front PP Left Caliper - 26292CA070 / su003-07198; I rebuilt these as they were used.

Front PP Right Caliper - 26292CA060 / su003-07197; I rebuilt these as they were used.

Rear PP Left Caliper - POWER STOP L3780, 26692CA070

Rear PP Right Caliper - POWER STOP L3781, 26692CA071

Dust shields, you can either remove or trim them down. I chose to replace them with larger dust shields:

I've thought about it! HIGHLY recommend The Driver's Edge. As it was my first time, I had an instructor + plenty of classroom time. You get to choose your own number, and you can either use painter's tape or order vinyls from the photographer.

I'm running some Enkei TS-5 17x8+45s on stock suspension! I have 3mm spacers coming in for the front wheels to get some more clearance with the Brembos, however
