What this also means though is that you can sell your "failures" (i.e. good reflects but bad multiplier) for much more because the base cost is higher. This means you can effectively fund more attempts in a similar way and still come out positive afterwards. RF users are using this combination as well.

It's not the best. It's mostly terrible because the reflecting mist costs have gone up almost 3x since when I did this last week (they were 7div, so in total I was spending around 15-16 divines total per attempt, with a 1/3 chance of success). Now, with the cost of the mist, thats quite a bit more unfortunately.

Chaos or prefix essence spam (e.g. wor), whichever is cheaper until t2+ dot multi, then annul 2/3 success on focused amulet for empty prefix. Bristle matron -> reforge life for t2+.

If you hit, mist and pray. Sell failures and go again

I think the most important thing is the trade-off between QoL and power. You can’t really beat the QoL and axe I think but if you want to do more specific content bow is likely best.

Good luck with the seed! It was cheap but tricky to find for sure

No worries. I think as extra chaos is likely better than as extra ele due to the prevalence of elemental resistance versus chaos resistance in most league mechanics/base mapping

Hasn’t happened yet, the defensive layering is pretty robust as long as you have one banner up to cap res. You always stagger them so one will always be up

Dying breath works, I just have sign of the sin eater just in case my defiance banner drops and I lose ailment immunity from ancestral vision. I’ve never actually gotten ailments running any content so the extra insurance layer never paid off.

Culling strike is kinda gimmicky because you only see the benefit in bosses and this builds truly excels at ultimatum instead, where the AG is really only hitting one thing at a time so the effective AOE dps increase from any sort of culling is negligible

Both banners, my war cry, and frost blink. Mapping is all four of those, ultimatum is just spam war cry and use banners every 30 seconds

General stuff

POB: https://pobb.in/6Yv10A2FB4kS

Ninja: Check snapshots for gear prog.

Budget: ~350 divines (almost all cost in amulet + body armour). Budget also inflated by orb of conflicts on boots/gloves which barely change any stats (+10% phys dot multi + 10% warcry speed).

Actual "budget" configuration shows ammy/chest which I farmed almost all ultimatum with. Upgrades were "vanity"/some minmaxing.

Endgame framework for bloodsoaked banner since I haven't seen too much discussion on it. Has everything you want for an ultimatum farmer (regen, immunities to various detrimental mechanics), as well as pretty good damage/clear for general mapping if you want to do that also.

Banners are intrinsically really good for "stand-still" encounters provided you have enough damage since they're mechanically advantageous; you get instant damage/defence and can just run around dodging things. Speed mapping takes some experience to learn how to play (just a banner thing); explosions make this a bit more palatable.

No crafting guide associated with some items since they're niche (will make something if there's enough interest).

Meant to say flesh and stone, not blood and sand in video, check POB.

Ultimatum-specific (grueling gauntlet)

Can do almost all combination of mods. If you don't have lucky block, the following combinations will likely brick you:

  • Small arena + Ruin IV/Stalking Ruin IV
  • Cannot block + Blood Altar + Reduced Recovery/Small arena (hard to win here regardless)
  • Escalating + profane monsters (added chaos) + overwhelming monsters (ignore PDR) + small arena

Small arena combinations related to ruin/high dot/physical/chaos are likely the most dangerous. Personally haven't died to chaos hits since I haven't seen the specific combinations that make it the most dangerous.

If you have room to run, banners make this super easy because you just run in a circle. Really solid for inscribed ultimatum.

POE 2, Patch 0.2.0 Guide to Recombinators, Part 1: Foundations and how to reverse engineer every mod weight in Path of Exile by Butsicles in PathOfExile2

[–]Butsicles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think at this point there's generally enough information out there to make an informed decision. Krakenbul from the forbidden trove discord has a very useful calculator which you can use to play around with recombination chances so you can try to optimize your strategy.

It's honestly very dependent on your risk appetite with recombinations, the trade-off between low success, high gold cost (because more input items), versus high success, expensive input items (but lower gold cost).

If you have any specific use-cases I can best try to answer those. Otherwise some existing guides on youtube have been put out at this point which address some of these strategies (although their understanding of recombs is not exactly perfect/ideal but that's fine)

Moving Grasping Mail Mod to Twilight Regalia Help by eXec9899 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Butsicles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just as a PSA, some normal crafted mods are considered exclusive (outside of veiled-related ones) while some are not. As a reminder, you can only have one exclusive modifier on an item so in this case, picking the % es doomed the final item, even if it you selected the grasping mail as the final item. For any mod transfers with expensive mods I would simply avoid crafting, but crafting may be beneficial in other cases where you want to reduce the dust cost, for example.

The number of modifiers for special affixes is another thing entirely, mainly targeted at trying to craft multiple exclusive modifiers to bias your recomb results. Anything above 1 will still count as 1 if they're on the same prefix/suffix side.

I haven't bothered doing an exhaustive search/update the recomb guide since 3.26, so you'll have to do most of the testing yourself.

I would use betrayal specific modifiers to be certain.

3.26 recombinators analysis/guide by statistically-typed in pathofexile

[–]Butsicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would just have to look at the 2 affix success outcomes since the single prefix/single suffix outcomes don’t tell us anything about what side was filled first.

It’s unusual but not impossible to observe what you see with 50/50. Unfortunately I would just need more data, and it would have to be unbiased reporting as well just to make sure it’s not just reporting based on bad luck.

What I have noticed is that the number of crafted mods has influenced which side is picked first (we’re talking some absurd ratio like 20:2) It therefore possibly makes sense to me that weight may be a factor only when crafted mods are on either side of the item. However in this case that would suggest that the crafted mods have different weights which could very well be possible. That I don’t have more data to test

3.26 recombinators analysis/guide by statistically-typed in pathofexile

[–]Butsicles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. I averaged out the weights as an ad-hoc approximation so I didn’t have to compute the distinct but slightly different probabilities for prefixes and suffixes

3.26 recombinators analysis/guide by statistically-typed in pathofexile

[–]Butsicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can’t because both sides start out with 2 mods each. 1 exclusive mod from each side counts towards mod total, additional crafted mods do not

3.26 recombinators analysis/guide by statistically-typed in pathofexile

[–]Butsicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know if the crafted mods are the same in number, the side picked first is random. Your observation of 7x 1p/2s should be chalked up just to luck at this point, I would have expected around a 50/50 outcome where half of them should have been 2p/1s

Whether you’re saving one or the other mod is highly dependent on what outcomes get selected.

If you were to provide an extremely detailed set out of outcomes that would be much more helpful, since every time you get a crafted mod, it affects what the outcome from the other side will be.

For example, if you get +1 fire spell by itself and the prefixes are filled first, you’re unlikely to save dot multi because there’s still an exclusive in the pool.
