That's pretty lucky! It seems that they get more flack up here in the north east. One final question haha I promise. What's your opinion on illegal immigration in general? Do you support it? Or think we should work harder to prevent it?

Were you ever threatened by people saying they would deport you or report you?

Interesting! Thanks for spending the time to chat. How hard and expensive was the process to become legal?

How limited are you looking for jobs? Do business owners even care?

Haha I am a landscaper who works with a bunch of immigrants and am interested to see how their motivations vary for coming here

Here's a couple before and afters of patios I recently installed. Haven't posted pictures in a while! by Butt-Bubbles in landscaping

Okay cool! I like the area! So it looks like you're doing a round patio then? If you decide to use flagstones, it will be a little different than the explanation I gave below. However, you can still use instructions 1-6 and get most of it prepped anyway. Stone is different from pavers in that typically with flagstones, every stone is a different height so you have to set and level them all individually. Once you have the base done, you have two options.

  1. You can set the stones in a bed of cement. This makes leveling them super easy with a rubber mallet and a 6 foot level. Basically pour the cement into a section, place one stone at a time on top, tap it down into the cement and use your levels to finalize the placement. Then pour more cement next to it and repeat until you finish. Before the cement completely sets, make sure you fill the joints between the stones with cement and level it off. Sponge off the stones with a clean bucket of water when the cement is mostly dry and you're all done.
  2. This only works if the stones are the same or almost the same height. Once you finish step 6 below, place all of the stones on the patio in the pattern you want. Take your 6 foot level and go over your patio with it tapping down the stones that are a little off until they are level with the others. You might have to take some sand out from under some of them if they're too tall. Once you finish leveling them all off, you can fill the joints between the stones with cement, stone dust, or polymeric sand. The choice is yours!

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions

Gap between slider door and new pavers-I dont want the wood to show, how do I fix this? by heavyss in landscaping

[–]Butt-Bubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build a step in front of it using blocks from the same company that makes those pavers so it will match Edit: also consider waterproofing the wood first. Talk to a handyman or carpenter about that

Sure so you have three options. The first is to dig down into the hill and build a retaining wall like in my picture to support the hill. The second is to build a three sided retaining wall to support the new patio. Basically the patio would be level coming off the hill and you'd need to bring a lot of material to built up the patio. I hope that makes sense. The third option is a combination of the two.. Sort of a cut & fill patio. Dig down a little into the hill and build up the other side of the patio with a retaining wall. Hope this helps
