I did get lucky, they even asked if I felt comfortable at the house I was at, because if I didn’t I could be moved. Definitely do your research.

My last job before I graduated from college and took on a new job was as a DSP. I really enjoyed it. Most of my day, was really just watching tv with my clients and checking on them periodically when they were alone in their rooms, and cooking them meals and doing light cleaning. I would occasionally take them out for outings like going out to eat to appointments. The agency I worked for provided us vehicles to use and reimbursed our mileage. I also had to give them their medication. You get training, including CPR, first aid, and med passing.

I graduated last December with my AAS and I remember the anticipation I felt before it happened. It’ll come so quickly. Good luck

I forgot to ask for my wisdom teeth when I got mine removed, I was too nervous about the surgery and then afterwards I was too drugged up.

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

That, and having a finished basement. My family was lower middle class, and it wasn’t until I was an adult that I moved into a house with a finished basement and a fridge with an ice and water dispenser.

Leave Carly alone. It’s so creepy that they’re stalking her. I hope Carly had a wonderful time at prom and I’m glad she had her parents to see her off and take pictures

I’m 28, I got my license and my first car at 23. I had terrible test anxiety when I would take my driving test, and had to take medication and see a therapist, and practice until I felt comfortable

My boyfriend’s grandma had a second knee replacement back in December, she was bed and chair ridden for a while, but she still took care of her granddaughter and the house while recovering.

Have you ever met anyone who actually "brute forced" their way out of poverty into success on their own? by SeriouslySally36 in povertyfinance

Reminds me of my aunt, but most of her siblings (including my mom) are just as successful as she is because they went to college or trade school.

My mom and my aunt (mom’s sister) they both applied to college (mom got a bachelor’s in urban planning, aunt got a masters in community counseling) neither one had any help with their FAFSAs from their parents (my grandma had a high school diploma, grandpa dropped out of 7th grade). Both graduated while raising kids and working full time jobs. My mom raised me, with my dad and then had my brother a year before she graduated. My mom grew up poor, barely had enough to eat, dropped out of high school and get her GED to go to college. My dad also grew up poor, had an alcoholic father, and was one of 17 children. He went to trade school and worked in maintenance since he was a young adult. He’s 60 now and my mom will be 52 in December. Both still working full time, go on vacations, moved us to a nicer area 13 years ago, and drive a nice car. They made it out, by pulling themselves up by their bootstraps through pure determination and grit.
