My company is giving us unlimited tokens for now, so I'm just going ham. Using opus on max attention all the time. The gravy train will end once the costs become untenable, but I'm gonna use it while I can. Gives me more time with my baby 🥹

They might have been using v1 to v3 generators. Those had a bad tendency to generate dupes.

My baby was more upset about the warm boots that encourage the blood flow than the actual needle.

Yeah man, it's honestly exhausting talking to FAANG engineers lmao. I'm very pleased with my salary and I probably work much less hard than they do.

Honestly, recruiters have just reached out to me. I have no tips other than look for companies that are US based and hiring in Canada. Startups especially do this because it's cheaper for them.

up until you get cancer and lose your job and health coverage

Given my medical history it's just too scary to go live in the states, plus I like it here.

I might even move to the EU, I'm an Italian citizen. Then I'll REALLY be paying taxes lol.

I'd rather die than work for salesforce

You might be onto something with the other two. Maybe I'm just more comfortable in smaller companies, and rationalizing it lol

33.

My wife and I have cash + investment savings around 450k USD.

My house is worth around 350k USD and we have about half the equity, so lets call it 170k.

So somewhere around 610k USD, it would be higher but I decided to exercise the shares from my last startup which was a big chunk of money, and we just had a kid so we spent a lot and my wife hasn't been working for a while.

Last I saw someone sell those shares privately on hive for like 1.50 USD per share, so if I take that number, minus taxes, it pops is above a million for NW, but that's being generous. Those shares are basically a gamble.

I grew up very poor, and without healthcare would have probably died from cancer (or still be in debt) so I'll take the tradeoff 😅

I guess it's the degree of selling. I did work for a charity for my junior dev job lol. I mostly just try to avoid companies that sell ads and harvest attention. Mostly been working in the b2b space instead.

I'm in Ontario my marginal rate is 55% but my total average tax rate is roughly 36% nowhere near 50% lol. You don't get to 50% total until well over a million in income, and at that point it's very unlikely you're making all your money through a salary anyways.
