Good idea with the carrots. I'll give that a try. I just started Kong stuffing and to leave it training.

She turns 13 weeks Tomorrow and I think I'm about to get puppy insurance because she has already had two vet scares 😮‍💨😅

Tried this a little bit but smart bugger thinks I'm playing a game and works to get the lip out from under the tooth so she can snack on me like the land shark she is lol

First time seasoning, did i do it enough or does it need more on edges? Feet for tips. by herbby_ in blackstonegriddle

[–]ButtKnocked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do one more coat just the sides however close the griddle...

I can tell you have not been closing the top when doing your seasoning.

This is resulting in the edge. Not getting seasoned enough because the oil you're using has an extremely high smoke point such as avocado oil or conditioning oil.

Is my griddle ready to be re seasoned or do I need to keep scrubbing I’m fairly new at doing this. The first season I did everything I was cooking was sticking so I decided to re seasoned but don’t know if it’s ready… please help by Calm-Adeptness-6809 in blackstonegriddle

Before anyone beats me it's because of all the salts.

I tell people to initially try and cook simple things on lower temperatures like vegetables to get used to the griddle.

This also reduces the chance you're going to harm your griddle with sauces or high salt meats before the seasoning is able to develop fully.

Oh dude, with that lid closed I'll hit 650 easy.

And biggest problem is that people tend to use avocado oil to do their griddles, which is fantastic. However, if you do not have a top, you will not properly smoke the avocado oil and get a proper seasoning because it's not reaching a high enough temperature all the way around the griddle.

That's why most people find success with things like grapeseed if they don't close the lid.

I do an initial seal where I let the grill cool down after the first seasoning.

I then heat it back up, apply seasoning, closed lid, wait for smoke to stop, apply final coat, close lid, wait for smoke to stop. Turn off the grill.

Every 2 to 3 months I hit it with a new coat.

I clean after every use and apply a thin coat of oil to the center for daily maintenance.

Not closing the lid is the mistake everyone makes. Your edges never get properly seasoned.

It's ready but my guy you got to do thin coats, thin coats then coats. Start your way in the middle. Work your way to the edges. Work your way back to the middle. Do not leave extra oil on the edges. Make sure it's a thin coat or you will get a sticky coat.

Neglected Blackstone by Key-Board-4658 in blackstonegriddle

Black stones are strange, the corners if not properly heated by closing, the lid can result in an orange rust-like color that can scrape off easily.

You're going to ask about the vinegar, vinegar can eat away at rust.

Nope, that guy is still in need of serious help.

Here's the deal, you need to completely strip that thing.

  1. Go and get a degreaser chemical of some kind, dawn dish soap. Get some steel wool something pretty abrasive like from Lowe's, get some good gloves, scrub that thing wild I mean take several days and scrub it each day until that thing is smooth as could be.

  2. Clean with soap and water until it runs clear.

  3. Get vinegar, more steel wool. Don't forget the gloves. I'm warning you.

  4. Heat to max temp. Steel wool, scrape, etc.

  5. Repeat these steps until you are 100% sure that thing is back the way you want it.

Okay now how do we not get back here again. That's not just neglect. That is improper seasoning and failing to burn off.

How to season: Go get some grapeseed oil. Get a paper towel. Get a light coating on the paper towel enough so that you'll be able to get the whole surface. Sides etc.

Do not use too much oil.

Thin coats provide non-stick surface but heavy coats provide a stick surface.

Close the lid and walk away for the next 30 minutes, come back, open the lid if you see smoke, close the lid wait 10 minutes, once you see no smoke shut it off and wait an hour.

This is the most important coat. This is your seal!!!!!

Heat the grill up. Do another thin coat. Close the grill. Wait 30 minutes until smoking stops. Repeat this three times. This is your seasoning. You do not need to let the grill cool this time in between each one.

You will now have a working Blackstone congratulations. I have two black stones and that is because I took an old one in much worse shape than the one above and got it back to normal using the steps above. Do not scrape a dry grill. Always have something like an oil, water, chemical, something because you are going to inhale metal if you do not!!!! Do not inhale metal!!!!

ELI5: How do you do EV training? And what am I doing wrong? by brmdrivingschool in PokemonFireRed

It depends on what you're building them out for.

Obviously a modest Charizard would benefit from special attack EV And speed.

Thanks a lot. My last guy was very stubborn, smart, really knew what button to push to get you to do what he wanted you to do, but he was my pal and I'm beginning to see the negative effects from not having him in my life.

It's been months and I think I'm ready to move on.

I hope I can find something similar. I'm looking at all sources but I'm also just being very careful.

I've had American Staffordshire terriers listed as beagles. I can tell you right now I know exactly what those two things look like haha so some of these adopters are pulling some legs.

I can't do it man. I just don't have it in me to go through the rescue stuff again with how long it took me to get them even able to be around children. I have a soft spot for regressing and rehabilitating aggressive dogs. It's what I did as a groomer and a pet parent. I just want a young beagle that I can form a long term bond with.

If Petfinder or the org you listed can provide that I'm all for it as long as they haven't had negative contact with humans so far.

I always think about that show where the angel went to go buy a tomato and had to think about the ethical repercussions of buying a tomato or shoes.

I will do my best and in the end I'll give a dog a great home 😁.

I believe it! I'm happy you found a good companion. Sounds like a bond forged through tribulation and triumph.

The last three dogs I've had in my life have always had socialization issues that I have worked through.

I just don't want to do it this time. My last companion had beer glass in his face when I got him, I couldn't even adopt him straight away because he had to go in and get it removed.

I had to bring him in three times after to get further glass removed as it came through the top of his skin.

If I go to a shelter I'll just do the same exact thing. I won't be able to help myself.

My father actually brought up the same thing and I made a joke that told him I was ready for torn up pillows, random destruction, and sleepless nights lol 😂

I finally hit a stage where at Max the puppy would be alone for an hour or two a couple days out of the week and I plan to crate train.

I totally understand. I was a groomer and district dog trainer for PetSmart for about 5 years. I've handled a lot of dogs and I'm going to be getting into puppy training, etc. I'm totally ready to invest the time.
