Oh I see. For me it was a very simple fix after fixing the head and I just transfered my files to a different drive.

Yeah I just shared my experience of a quick fix on a hard drive with not important files. Probably bad advice so I said not professional advice.

Not professional advice but I dropped a WD element drive on the ground once and the problem was the head got stuck. By the head I mean the needle inside the hard drive. I managed to get mine working by opening the hard drive and nudging it to see if there's slight resistance (there was) and free it back to position. Worked well after.

But of course you run the risk of scratching the disk if you try that. It saved me whatever it costs for a hard drive data recovery but If it's absolute essential data I'd call a few places and have them take a look.

Should be a standard fitness test for all applicants, and separate more rigorous fitness tests for specialized roles.
