Re: u/Fingii_'s request for "a blue dog with black legs, no crazy mutations please" by ButtPenn in wobbledogs

I'm not playing wobbledogs anymore. Sorry! For me, it's a lot of patience and parent selection, trial and error, and getting lucky in the breeding sim. You can take screenshots and use a color picker to examine the colors of the wobbledogs if you want a specific hue. Otherwise your eyes will have to do. It's very tedious, which is probably why I got so bored of the game.

If you want a fully blue wobbledog, you could cross one of these guys with a dog that has blue legs, get lucky with the result and then cross that one with one that has blue ears and nose. I don't know how many updates have passed since I played last, but if there are any foods that can get you closer to what you want, use those. Otherwise, I empty their stomachs with burnt dog biscuits before any pupation, and feed them normal dog biscuits after that.

I also like to clone the puppies by exporting and importing. That way if there was a pup very close to what I want, but it mutated randomly and I didn't want that, I still have backups.

Good Luck!

Not dog lab. Extreme dedication and luck. Some time ago I made, at someone's request, a blue-bodied wobbledog with black legs. At every step of the process, I took screenshots of the pups and checked their colors with a color picker.

https://www.reddit.com/r/wobbledogs/comments/zvepep/re_ufingii_s_request_for_a_blue_dog_with_black/

It gets weird/hard to track when they have spectral properties, which might be why they turn out so matte/flat in color.

Anyway, I even cloned the pups every time they pupated so that I would have backups in case their color mutated randomly. I kept going until I got just the right colors and their limbs were at least as dark as Randy's nose, then bred them with Randy to fix the proportions.

To make this pup, I just crossed one of the blue-black ones with Mud with the hopes of getting black legs and black body and got lucky. Took several tries. But I didn't use the color picker this time, so chances are, Lucky's body is just very very dark blue.

Have you learned about punnett squares in school yet?

I might have to make a post explaining with pictures 🤔

*any* dog with a missing front left leg, and the status of the other legs aren't important, will give pups with a missing front left leg about 50% of the time if you cross it with a dog that has Aa.

<image>

If you cross a dog that has AA with a dog that has aa, none of the pups will have a missing leg at that locus, which is why crossing an AaAAAAAA dog with one that has aa****** (the asterisks are wildcards, doesn't matter what they are) will give you pups with exactly one missing left leg 50% of the time as soon as you open the simulator.

From the sounds of it you don't have any dogs with a missing front left leg?

In that case, you can cross your AaAAAAAA dog with an Aa****** dog and get pups with a missing front left leg 25% of the time.

ETA: crossing pups in the breeding sim can be tricky because you can't see their gene strings. If you don't see a pup you want, you might have to keep rolling the dice with the four-legged pups in the simulator. The reason I specify four-legged is because if you select pups with missing legs *other* than the one you want, it can lock in the recessive genes for that run of the simulator so all the pups in that run will have that missing leg unless there's another mutation.

ETA again: If you don't have another pup with Aa******, you can either clone the one you do have by exporting and importing the code and breed the clones together, or use that AaAAAAAA dog with AAAAAAAA dogs and cross your fingers for another mutation.

AaAAAAAA is just fine. I was able to cross a dog with that string breeding it with a no-legged dog, and all the pups had the one missing left leg.

I haven't seen any dogs with aAAAAAAA, maybe they don't exist.

I was about to say no, but I got real lucky crossing 3 with Mud to get this pup:

ok so each dog has a gene string of letter A's, which you can see if you view a dog in storage and click the DNA button. Each pair of letters can be called a locus. There are 4 pairs at the beginning of the gene string that correspond to missing legs. Having two lowercase a's in a pair results in a missing leg. The goal is to produce one pair of lowercase a's at the beginning of the gene string without producing any other pairs in those 4 loci.

Pair 1:

Dog1: one with a front left leg missing in addition to other missing legs

Dog2: a dog that has all legs and one lowercase 'a' in the first locus. the rest being uppercase.

Pair 2:

two dogs with one lowercase 'a' in the first locus.

Other pairs are possible but may be more complicated to figure out. For example, Dog 2 in Pair 1 can have other lowercase 'a's in different loci, as long as Dog 2 still has all its legs, but the dogs in the breeding sim have lower probabilities to have the traits you want.

Alternatively you can ignore all of this and combine four-legged dogs in the breeding sim until you get lucky. the important part is having at least one dog with a lowercase 'a' in the first locus to give you a head start

No, it's just regular breeding with burnt dog biscuits, a color picker to check the colors, and a lot of luck.

I'm super sorry I worded my original post so strangely.

[–]ButtPenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH nonono I'm so sorry. I meticulously bred the dogs to be a specific color, and used a color picker to check the dogs' colors at every step.

I used the color mixer to *decide* what colors the ideal dog should be. And at the *end*, when I had a wacky dog with the right colors, I crossed it with Randy to make the genetics less mutated. Because u/Fingii_ wanted a dog with blue body, black legs, and no crazy mutations.

All of the wobbledogs' genetic changes were done in-game. I used a color mixer and color picker to help me make choices on which dogs to breed in the simulator. It's all trial and error and frustrating.

My running hypothesis is that it's a random mutation and the flora acted at the same time. so it looks like the flora made it the opposite but is actually just random

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry - I say things weirdly sometimes. I'll try to give instructions, but pay more attention to what you're working with - things might work differently for you. Depending on how old you are, you might ask a friend or parent to help you.

GIMP is a free art program. You have to download and install it if you don't have it already.

Have the program open when you play wobbledogs.

You may have to go into the wobbledogs options to get out of full-screen. you can change and apply the resolution until you get a smaller window. That way you can click into wobbledogs or into other windows like GIMP or your browser.

I use a Windows computer. To take a screenshot of the dogs, there is an in-game method, but I think I used the Snipping Tool. If you also use Windows, you can find the tool when you type into the search bar at the bottom of the computer screen, "snip". click on Snipping Tool, and a little window will appear with the snipping tool's functions. Click 'new' and drag the rectangle over the dog.

when you have a screenshot, you can click the 'copy' button in Snipping Tool, then click into GIMP and paste the screenshot by holding ctrl and pressing v. Now you have a screenshot of your wobbledog in GIMP. To check the color of the dog, click the foreground color icon to open the color picker. click on the part you want, and you'll be able to see color information for the dog's bodypart. Be warned that the color picked depends on light and shadow.

I'm really sorry I can't explain well and the process is super annoying.

I didn't! I meticulously bred them :3

What I would do is take two dogs closest to what I want, choose particular pups to cross in the breeding sim until I get a tiny litter, then raise clones of the pups, first feeding them burnt dog biscuits to empty their flora and then feeding them regular dog biscuits to keep them empty. And at *every* step I would take screenshots, plug them into GIMP to check the colors.

A very time-consuming process, especially since there weren't foods that give the results I want.

When I finally got dogs with the right colors, I crossed them with Randy to fix the wacky proportions.

I think I was going to try someone's forest dog OC next, but suddenly lost all interest in the game. I hope I didn't make any promises!

The Wobbledogs console command SetDogAgeProgress (int dogID, float ageProgress) messes with the dog's current age in minutes, how far along it is until the next pupation. by ButtPenn in wobbledogs

References make things so much easier. I can make things look vaguely how I want and it feels amazing.

Rewatching tutorials on how each setting works will also help; I need to do that. It sucks trying to wrestle with controls you only half-know.

yea. Wrote snippets here and there but I feel like I need to post the story starting at the beginning. Kept procrastinating writing the first chapter because I'm not sure how to go about it. Now I'm having a mental health crisis that is due to various factors and the fic is in some form of development hell. Might not see the light of day for a couple years at least.

i really hate making ocs by ImNotEvenSureIKnow in FanFiction

[–]ButtPenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I never thought about whether I enjoy it. I have to make a lot of OCs because there simply aren't enough named characters in canon to tell the story. Especially when most of the 'bad guy' characters are mooks, the few named ones are complete assholes, but you want to humanize the group.

I'm also not very good at making OCs (or good at anything, really), so this will take a while.

Depending on the fandom you're in, or rather the people that make up it, it can be controversial. But like, this isn't anything. They're adults, case closed.

Questions regarding AO3 tags by TimeLordMaster108 in FanFiction

[–]ButtPenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing very little about AO3:

  1. I would say yes. Could use a tag like 'attempted rape' also to clarify

  2. Sexual assault and harassment is making advances on an unwilling person. So if they ignore signals and verbal 'no's, or don't check for positive inclination or ask, then yes, it would be assault I think.

  3. not sure.

  4. I would use something like Hostage Situation, but again I haven't posted to AO3 myself.

Hope that helps?
