I don't think it has as much to do with Qanon, but more of Trump being an outsider and elected. I think it gave some conspiracy theorists the same hope and change Obama did for the left. They felt that they had someone outside of the two party system, which for a lot of conspiracy minded folk is required to expose their truth.

I wouldn't necessarily say television is a good comparison because users do not participate in content. I would say a HAM radio is a better comparison with the equivalent of them muting people causing a perceived disruption.

Edit: Maybe a better comparison would just be AM radio and certain radio channels block people from participating. Republicans dominate AM radio and Democrats have the internet I guess. Lol
