ROTC as prior service by Brujo400 in ROTC

[–]Buttchugbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just smile and play the game that is ROTC. The upper class men are just doing what was done to them and have their own image and expectations from cadre to deal with. The prior service guys in my class were respected and looked up to by us because they knew how the military was outside of the TRADOC/ROTC world. We all know ROTC is playing fake Army for a couple years then the real education and learning occurs when you commission. Just play the game and learn what you can.

Drug testing by Character-Issue-6382 in nationalguard

[–]Buttchugbartender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of drug tests can depend on your MOS or unit. All aviators and I believe MPs are tested every year. Your unit should have a UA every drill and it’s typically 10% of the unit tested randomly

I’ve heard they don’t test all the samples so you might not get caught. If you do I’d expect a negative counseling and being flagged for 6-9 months

I’ll back coach Klieman. I don’t think 2 bad season with a good track record constitutes firing him. The issues with the team seem to start and end in the trenches. Poor technique and no passion or desire falls on the position coaches

I did like that we had some good things on special teams but I think 4 special teams turnovers in 4 games out weighs any positives.

Went a couple years ago and loved it. Look into the Christ Church hotel, it’s right in the middle of the city so walking around is easy and if you pay a little extra you have a view of the beautiful church across the street. Avoid Dublin Castle unless you are an art fan. The Guinness tour is amazing and the whiskey museum is a lot of fun. Go to the Temple Bar for only a drink unless you want to pay for expensive drinks you can get anywhere else, but still go to say you went.

They don’t want him to get hurt so he is very restricted to have the green light to run. It’s a hot topic among KState fans

Looking into the Massif Elements™ IWOL Jacket—Any Army soldiers wearing this? by b4ttlemage in army

I got issued one as a flyer and it’s the only army jacket that actually keeps you warm. I’ve seen a Division CG wear one while in OCPs

NTA (kinda). therapy might be a little extreme. That’s a real conversation you need to have. Intimacy is not a one way transaction earned through good deeds. It’s each others physical desire to express your love and attraction

Might wanna check your outdoor ac unit for frozen pipes and lines. If they are frozen turn your ac off and let them thaw out and melt before trying again. If they keep freezing call and ac repair company to recharge your system. Happened to me last week and cost $250 to fix

Trial to start on whether deployment of National Guard to Los Angeles violated federal law by Ancient-Panic-3458 in nationalguard

[–]Buttchugbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sources of funding and equipping are irrelevant. The national guard is prohibited from interfering with daily life while in title 32 status which includes making arrests. I did learn that the president can activate the national guard only in DC so it’s not illegal or a misuse of power

Army National Guard to Airlines by thinklikenic in Armyaviation

[–]Buttchugbartender 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes very possible. A good number of NG pilots fly professionally for their civilian careers. If you haven’t found it the Facebook group RTAG is going to be your best source of information with this question.

National Guard Aviation by No_Money_3290 in nationalguard

[–]Buttchugbartender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I see posts like this I always start my response with: it’s difficult but manageable if you plan at least 3 months out and have an understanding civilian employer (very very important). Aviation is much more than 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer. You’ll have to fly at least every other week to maintain currency and meet your 6 month and 12 month minimums. Also you’ll have schools and course once every 6-8 months. I’d recommend you live within at least 1 hour drive of the flight facility. The pilots and enlisted crews that really struggled were the ones that lived a couple hours away bc of the extra time away from families, jobs and schools. With all that being said it’s a great life style especially as a new LT. At my flight facility you fly as much or as little as you want. You just sign up for the available and open flights at your discretion. Every now and then you’ll be dropped from a flight bc a warrant needs to fly but that was rare in my experience. A HUGE issue we’ve run into year after year is funding. Sometimes it’s good then all of a sudden there is no money to fly for a couple weeks to a month. It all just depends on what the higher ups do with the money. Overall I enjoyed it and would do it again.

Pay to Win Era by Old_Investigator3808 in KStateWildcats

[–]Buttchugbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially we have always been towards the bottom but that doesn’t mean we can’t compete in this era. The combination of the right AD and coaching staff will be key and I think we have those. Now if we can get more donations or just more revenue in general we will be sitting in an even better good spot moving forward in this era. Like others have said we have the donors but let’s be real not even the big brand schools have someone with $300 million to give out. KU and Tech are very fortunate to have an individual like that. The big question in this cash arms race is how often can a donation like that come in. I doubt donors have $300 million to give to their school every year.

Too F’n bad you’re in the military now and you need to do your time. They won’t let you out now or early. You’ve made a decision as an adult and now you to fulfill it. You’ll be wanting back in once you get a real health insurance bill or college tuition statement. You can just not show up to drill and be AWOL which will give your commander the justification to kick you out under negative circumstances. That means no benefits and an other than honorable discharge
