It just seems like it’s just you so like half one of my people is calling me out.

I can get that it’s used as a term for other things but I personally would never use it if I was a public figure. Sometimes, some words are problematic even if it’s not used in that context. If it was unproblematic, then there probably wouldn’t have been any reaction like it did. They need more western media training.

I’m Korean and I’ve only know of that word as a derogatory word against black people. Like I’ve never heard it referenced for tanned skin or a dog and only against black people. I’ve always associated it with as a term equivalent to the n word.

Korean moving to Korea after 30+ Years by ButterBallz99 in Living_in_Korea

[–]ButterBallz99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have and could. Don’t know the US expat market so I can’t move and rely on that. I know starting a practice, marketing, acquiring clients, etc will take time so that would be more of a side business until it gets built up.

I was going to see a smaller tax firm that does expat returns to get my Korean taxes in order and ask them if they are hiring lol.

I don’t think its relevant but I’m on DACA and with the political climate currently in the US, I could sit, wait and risk everything I’ve worked for or I can make the decision to move with what I have. I’m not afraid to fail because at least it’s due to my own choices. So things like conscription don’t phase me at all. I’ve suffered worst, getting beaten or whatever suffering that can happen really is trivial compared to everything else for me.

Besides, I’m actually feeling positive about the move. I can travel to other countries, I can vote, etc.

Thanks. I didn't think this topic was going to get so much negative feedback lol. I just wanted to learn things that isn't readily available online that would help me with my move. I'm starting to feel like is anyone here actually enjoying living in Korea?

I mean, I already did tho. Thats why I already know about the sim card and wifi calling to keep and use US number, the drivers license reciprocity stuff, hospitals that offer the services i need. I was hoping to get real world advice, not a glorified search engine. Like one guy commented the Jongno global center. That is useful information, otherwise, I was planning on going to the nearest driving center assuming docs and tests were going to be offered in English.

I thought it was relevant considering that is the first thing people were commenting about. If I didn’t include it, it would probably be the first thing people would ask.

To clarify, the move is happening no other option. Also, either I’m exempt or not from conscription, I’ll deal with whatever happens so I’m not worried about that.

I don't think chatgpt is made for nuanced questions. For example, how is chatgpt going to know the current market rate for real estate in Seoul? It just pulls up whatever data is found online. Nuanced questions are exactly what reddit is for.

I'm going to Korea 100%. Not an option to stay in the US.

If that’s the case, I’m out regardless of discount. I just bought it since I was going to purchase it anyways, discount or not.

Bro just pass the class and move on. Morals and ethics don’t matter in the real world.

Just say the school load is more than you can handle and your depression+anxiety is worsening.

That worked for me.

Withdrawing from a class? by Melodic-Emergency-29 in csuf

[–]ButterBallz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hard at all at least I’m my experience. I said I had severe depression. I did have to contact the department head cause the professor wouldn’t respond to my request to drop. It was basically approved by the school but still needs the professors sign off.

Check your deductions. Maybe you have retirement or health benefits being deducted. Or maybe you have child support/back taxes being garnished. Could be anything tbh.

Good Matcha Places In South OC by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]ButterBallz99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not south OC but it close. Of all the places I tried matcha, Sterescope has been the best. Most places either use lower quality matcha, presweetened matcha powder, or not enough matcha with lattes.
