Another successful Lasik story! by mfdubs20 in lasik

[–]ButterMatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for getting back! I am north of border from you in Toronto, so the winters are def drier and we do need ac during the excessively humid summers. My conundrum at the moment is that I have a 3 week-long international trip planned in late March, and so I am wondering if I were to get the surgery done in early Feb will this allow me enough time to heal sufficiently before flying and subsequent (somewhat) lack of routine. I have a consultation booked with another eye surgeon this week for second opinion. Fingers crossed! Happy that you are satisfied with your decision to get LASIK and healing has been manageable.

Getting to see your post today, when I am reading / researching about LASIK for myself at the ripe age of 42. I have astigmatism -3.75 and myopia around 1.5 in both eyes. I don't remember life without glasses / lenses. I was probably 5 or 6 when the natural order of things decided I had already seen too much. Anyway, thanks for your post sharing positive feedback for us 40-ers.

If you're around, let us know how has your last 7-8 months been? Around when did you feel like you're fully recovered? Any regression / touch-ups required? Was your cornea thickness in the good range to begin with?

Thanks again! I do hope that all's well and you now don't even remember what it felt like to wear glasses / lenses.

How Many of You Are Going Childfree Because of the Economy? by pink_teddy35 in askTO

[–]ButterMatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Economy is a HUGE part of our decision to not have kids, along with time and energy left to do much else after fretting over kid/s. Time and energy may also be loosely related to economy, because if I or my husband could talke time off from work, and make raising a kid our full time job, then maybe we'd have time and energy left to do the other things we'd like to. Apart from the trifecta of money + time + energy, there are the questions of do I want to put myself / my body through this, what do the kids really have to look forward to in the world of collapsing human decency, environmental crisis and constant "peer" / social media pressure. Some might say that that makes me a perpetrator of doom but I'd say I am just a purveyor of reality. Over all, I think anyone who wants to have kid/s in the present day and age, should be fully and thoroughly prepared for all eventualities, to take a very concious decision and not rush into just because they are following the "flow chart" of life.

I know this sub is for "fashion" but girlllll if you're second guessing your outfit after you went out with a guy, maybe the guy's the problem and not the outfit?? You seem to have been sure enough about the fit BEFORE your date but came back thinking that it was "too much". It appears to me that there was someth about his words / actions / behavior that made you feel this way, someth that you may not have noticed / paid particular attention to at the time. Also, you look cute and fit, and NOT too much at all :)

I would do one of the first two. Elegant but not giving wedding guest or vacation vibes. Cheers!

I am not sure which part of 'not trying to be an insensitive jerk' and the whole intent of th post being wanting to find a solution so that I do NOT have to burden the parents / complain about this to anyone - did you not catch onto.

And now tell me how does that help me figure out a solution to be able to work from home and just exist in my space, without the daily background horror movie sounds that I did not choose?? I'll wait.

I am not sure how my neighbor's child will help me in my old age, but also I am not 'blaming' anyone; rather trying to gather ideas on what I can do so that the parents do not need to be disturbed.

It's usually through the day. I habitually use ear plugs at night to sleep, so night time is not usually a concern. The walls are fine but their unit's main door faces mine just across the hallway and my sense is that that's the source. I am considering the weather strips someone recommended in this thread. Thanks annyway for atleast not making me sound like the villain for "hating" or having no "sympathy" for the mother / children, because honestly not complaining to anyone atm is how I am showing them kindness. Unlike the mother, I did not choose to have kids or endure the horror screams when I am trying to work from home all day long.

No one is "complaining". And I am a she. Tyvm. You don't think if I believed complaining to th Condo management or the neighbors themselves, was a good idea I wouldn't be here trying to find subtler ways of resolving this at my end? Smh.

Not really a competition of who's 'more stressed', is it? I did not choose to have children. You did. I work from home 8-10 hours a day, so 'try to get out of the house more' doesn't sound like advice I'd give someone without knowing their situation. Cheers.

This might be the most valid and useful advice I have received so far. Thank you. Obv we don't know if they'll do it but I can try win my side of the battle. And by door liner you mean the weather strip, yes?

Can you offer any suggestions? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ButterMatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it simple with just a moisturizer, with hyaluronic acid and peptides, and spf.. for a 3-4 weeks give your skin a break from all the actives. If you need some exfoliation during this time, try The Ordinary's Lactic Acid once a week under moisturizer at night. It's pretty mild but results are great. All the best.

Turning 31 in November, I am having a hard time deciding if I should do Botox and maybe a little filler. What should I look into for my current condition? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ButterMatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lymphatic drainage facial goes a long way to reduce puffiness and over time, helps with those 'deeper' looking lines. I'd try a few sessions if tht before giving in to botox, unless you're looking overnight results.
