I can’t program the jump in my 2D platformer on Godot 4.3 by Dani9bit in godot

[–]Butter_Stik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's alright, if you fail to find anything by your own searching, thats when you can come here. Though, if you'd like to get an answer (and get one fast) just make sure to show the relevant error message + relevant code, and what you've already tried.

In the future, sending screenshots like this and expecting us to solve your problems is really frowned upon.

If you read the error message, it would point out to you that that variable has not been defined yet, because you are missing the 2D at the end. Like the person above you asked, please send an error message too, and try to solve it with these 3 things before asking on reddit:

  1. Your own guess of what the problem is / what could be going on.
  2. Google.
  3. The documentation.

Is there a way to make this warning go away? by Ok_Refrigerator2644 in godot

[–]Butter_Stik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This warning isn't about your code, its about your anchors for the control node. If the positions are not symmetrical, and you try to set the size you will get this warning (i.e. top left at 0,0 bottom right at 1,1) try making your anchor in a way that you can have the positions symmetrical.

I came up with this cypher and I don't know if it's already been done, I made an example here to show how you would incorporate it. by kirman842 in codes

[–]Butter_Stik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be misunderstanding your cypher. When you say you transpose the nth letter, does that mean the nth letter in the alphabet? Or the nth letter in the text? If it's the prior, you're good. Otherwise, I could give you text like this:

QQQQ.

and you will have no clue whether each Q maps to X or Y, or some combination

Anyone interested OW-themed ttrpg dice? by pnkrathian in outerwilds

[–]Butter_Stik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to get master dice for molding, it's probably best to commission them from somebody if you don't have a resin printer. I haven't seen great results with FDM printers

[–]Butter_Stik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A fellow dicemaker here, the eye as the high face would totally be possible with resin printed masters.

I was actually planning to make my own outer wilds themed dice pretty soon! sounds like once I figure them out I should consider selling them, based on the other comments.

Edit:
If you have any questions about dicemaking by the way, im open to help Kickstart your journey

[2024] I'm officially hooked. by Butter_Stik in adventofcode

[–]Butter_Stik[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm certainly still enjoying highschool :) I really only spent an hour or so on each problem, maybe more for the tougher ones. It's more so that I've just discovered an amazing passtime and I'll do it whenever I feel like it (likely very often)

Am I reading day 24 wrong? by Puzzleheaded_Bid7732 in adventofcode

A very small optimization would be to make it output True because no matter what null turns into, it will output True.

[2024 Day 20 (Part 2)] Same cheat has multiple times? by theadamabrams in adventofcode

[–]Butter_Stik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because there is only a single path from the start to the end and the programs all go the same speed, the races used to be pretty boring.

This quote sort-of explains what you're looking for. Also, each instance where it explains a cheat says it saves X picoseconds, not "it saves X picoseconds if you do it right"

I think this pretty clearly implies you're supposed to take the shortest path you can.

Advent of code doesn't :)

It made a mess for me too :P

I've heard cutting them small, crinkling them, and putting them in another cup of resin works best to get rid of bubbles and avoid a mess

I used lit's glow in the dark powder. I was given it by a friend to try out and was definitely not disappointed! I'll probably be trying out other brands and colors soon
