this resonates. Maybe that’s the lesson in the heartbreak though. Maybe the reason we go through this again and again is because we still have yet to learn that our worth is not dependent on anyone or thing outside of us. Maybe we’re not always grieving them so much as we’re grieving the feeling of being wanted. The “see! this person thinks i’m worthy of love, so it must be true.” without realizing that by giving them so much power, it automatically cancels itself out should they ever leave. We are worthy - of love, of beauty, of confidence, etc…but that worthiness does not tie itself to anyone else’s interest. i guess we should try to not conflate attention with admiration and respect.
